Day look: Honey Lee

2/9

If you aren’t big on layers of makeup, try this look worn by actress and former Miss Korea Honey Lee. Start by applying a tinted moisturiser which has the right amount of coverage without feeling heavy on your skin.

To achieve the celebrity-inspired unkempt and bushy brows, fill in your brows wherever the hairs are sparse. Remember to use a light hand and don’t overdo them.

Use a clear brow gel and comb the hairs in the direction of their growth. As for the front of your brows, comb them in an upwards direction. The rest of your makeup should be kept at a minimal for a clean and effortless appearance

Day look: Jessica Jung

3/9

To sweep your date off his feet, start by drawing on straight brows which are a hallmark of the innocent look. Sport the one tone makeup like singer and entrepreneur Jessica by opting for a blush and lipstick with similar shades.

Instead of a powder blush, choose a cream blush which is longer-lasting and has a “glow-from-within” effect. Apply the blush using your fingertips as the natural warmth melts the product and blends it into your skin seamlessly.

Day look: Lee Sung Kyung

4/9

One lip makeup trend that can be spotted across all Korean celebrities including Lee Sung Kyung, who regularly fronts Laneige, would be blotting their lipstick on for an undefined lip shape. This look gives the illusion of pouty lips and is said to give a more youthful and innocent appearance.

In lieu of thick winged liner, use a brown liner and draw a thin line that extends from the corner of your eye. Nicknamed the ‘puppy eyeliner’, it promises bigger and rounder eyes while looking natural at the same time.

Day look: Pony

5/9

We wouldn’t be celebrating Valentine’s Day if we didn’t include a pink monochromatic look. To re-create this one by makeup artist Pony, apply a dusty rose matte shadow on your lids and blend it towards your brow bone.

Take a rose gold shimmer shadow and pop it onto your lids and lower lash line too. Remember to highlight the inner corners of your eyes, tip of your nose and down your nose bridge for larger eyes and a more defined nose.

Night look: Minzy

6/9

To achieve the sultry look as seen on former 2NE1 member Minzy, sweep a brick matte eyeshadow all over your lids and bottom lash line. Use a darker shades to smoke out the outer corners and finish off by curling your lashes.

Just like Sung Kyung, Minzy is also wearing the ‘blotted lip’ in a striking red shade.

Night look: Kim Hee Jeong

7/9

As a beginner in makeup, smokey eyes is an intimidating look to pull off. One wrong move and you’ll like like you haven’t slept in days. A more wearable and foolproof approach to it would be to use brown shadows which can be seen on former child actress Kim Hee Jeong.

In contrast with contouring in Western countries where they emphasise on chiseled cheekbones, contouring in Korea focuses on a slimmer face with a ‘v-line’ - a v-shaped jaw.

Start by using a contour stick to draw strokes near your hairline, cheekbones and jawline. Blend it out using your fingers or a damp beauty blender so that the contour does not look harsh.

Night look: Soo Joo Park

8/9

Completed with a cool tone eye look and a nude lip, this look is suitable for those with a fairer skin tone like Korean top model, Soo Joo Park.

Start by sweeping a taupe shimmer shadow on your lids, blending it towards your brow bone. Deepen the outer thirds of your eyes with a camel-coloured shadow, blending it into your crease.

As for the nude lip, apply a light pink shade with a lustre finish. This will give the illusion of juicy and plump lips.

Night look: Sunmi

9/9

Instead of lining your eyes with a black or brown eyeliner, why not try doing it with a brown shadow? This dolly eye look that is seen on former Wonder Girls member Sunmi can be achieved by applying dark brown shadow with an angled liner brush.

Apply the shadow on the outer thirds of your bottom lash line to elongate your eyes. To further enlarge your eyes, apply a coat of mascara onto your bottom lashes.
