Here’s the thing. Even the most casual of K-Pop listeners will know how big of a deal ex-SNSD siren Jessica Jung is – yours truly, for instance, is a fanboy of said superstar on account of her incredibly incandescent face.
Want to cop the complexion of the gorgeous #girlboss? Read on for what I gleaned from the lovely lady during her recent sojourn to sunny Singapore:
Cleanliness is truly next to gorgeousness. First things first: Get your fundamentals right by sudsing up and scrubbing down. Why risk the heartache (and face-ache) of large pores and pimples, all because you aren’t being meticulous about makeup removal at the end of the day? Just take it from Jessica, who says that cleansing is an essential component of her beauty regime: “I tend to break out if I don’t take off all of my makeup, so I always make sure to wash my face thoroughly before topping up with a calming moisturiser.”
Paint the town pink! The endearingly effervescent creative director of fashion label Blanc & Eclare says she likes playing up her facial features with a pop of “coral [and] pink eyeshadow”.
Now at first blush, pink might seem like an obvious choice for the eyes – it’s fun, flirty and feminine. And indeed, when done right, the super-stylin’ fuchsia-and-coral combo can lend the perfect jolt of “Kolour” – but if you’re pulling an office all-nighter, you may want to hold off on the pink; the shade is only going to draw attention to tired, bloodshot eyes. If you’re willing to give pink eyeshadow a shot, we recommend applying with a very light hand, and only on the outer half of your lids.
A clean sheet. Save yourself from tears on a red-eye by doing as Jessica does and removing your makeup with a wet wipe. Once your face is free of gunk, pat in a nourishing moisturiser as a protective barrier against the dry cabin air. Follow up with “a facial sheet mask during long-haul flights” if you’re extra diligent, then settle in for a transportive hour or two of in-flight entertainment.
Jessica also says she likes spritzing on a facial mist to freshen up during her flight, which is a bit of beauty advice I can certainly stand behind. Here’s a quick tip: Whenever you use a mist, be sure to dab off the excess with soft cotton pads after a couple of seconds; you want to prevent the evaporation process from wicking precious water off the top layer of your skin.
Look like a million bucks for less! Here’s something that should please the penny-pinching budget barbies out there: Jessica doesn’t do the glamour girl thing. “I like sussing out Japanese drugstore brands,” she says. “I like using a variety of products and trying out different things to discover which ones I like.”
