Medium-length hair, or shoulder-length hair, can sometimes feel like being the awkward middle child – it’s neither here nor there. This doesn’t mean you’ll be out of options when it comes to hair styling though, if you can braid short hair, styling medium-length hair would be a walk in the park.

Sleek bun with middle part

You've seen this look all over TikTok and on every Gen Z beauty influencer, and we can see why! This look isn't hard to achieve, and it looks polished. All you'll need is a generous amount of hair oil and a toothbrush or edge brush to lay your edges down.

The hun

A half-bun (or hun) is a great hairstyle for both work and play — keep it a little looser on the weekend, and neaten it up at the office.

No time to do braids and twists? Simply use a statement-making barette or hair pin on one side and you’re good to go.

Braided do

4/14

Simply braid parts of your fringe and pin them to the back for this effortlessly elegant look.

Pins galore

5/14

There’s no such thing as too many bobby pins. Similar to the hair style above, gather sections of hair at the front and secure with bobby pins in an orderly fashion.

Braided top knot

6/14

If you have fancy fingers and adept at braiding, this braided top knot keeps long fringe from getting on your face.

Sleek bun

7/14

Part hair into three sections – tie the middle section with a hair tie without pulling the ponytail fully out. Then, carefully sleek hair from the side, covering the hair tie and wrapping it around. Secure with bobby pins and do the same for the other hair section.

Flipped ponytail

8/14

This one is super easy to achieve. Just tie hair into a ponytail, form a ‘hole’ above the hair tie and loop the rest of the ponytail back in.

You can easily wear this to a wedding dinner or work event. Leave some pieces of fringe loose for a more casual, sophisticated vibe. But be sure to use a hair curler or iron to add some waves.

Beach waves and wispy bangs

10/14

Never had bangs before? This shoulder-length cut with wispy fringe might convince you otherwise.

The half-top knot

11/14

Top knots are great for keeping hair out of the way. This one is simply gathering hair near the crown of the head for an easy half knot.

A romantic loose chignon

12/14

Nothing says classy like a chignon. Tie hair into a low pony tail, flip the ends back into the ponytail loop and secure with bobby pins.
