Wednesday Addams braids

1/7

Perhaps drawing inspiration from a certain Wednesday Addams, models at Max Mara were sent down the runway wearing a bold black lip, frosted blue eyeshadow and glossy braids parted down the centre. How delightfully 90s is that?

Picasso painted hair

2/7

According to Jeremy Scott, this show was inspired by the paintings of Picasso. Hair is neatly pulled back into ladylike-buns at the nape of the neck, and then painted with bold strokes of colour.

Messy hair

3/7

Messy hair, don’t care. At Fendi, models had their hair artfully mussed up and thrown into high ponytails and buns. The overall look wouldn’t be out of place at a musical festival like Coachella. On the other hand, the models at Missoni wore a more considered look. Here, messy hair is paired with glowy skin and blushed cheeks – it’s almost post-coital.

80s ponytails

4/7

Annakiki took notes from the 80s, with models wearing exagerrated swoops fixed with copious amounts of extra-strength hairspray. Some models sported ponytails along with swoopy bangs, while others wore the rest of their hair down.

Short bobs

5/7

At Prada, models wore faux bobs created by loose ponytails, with deep side parts, while Laura Biagotti featured a handful of faces sported tousled, blunt-cut bobs. Either way, the writing’s on the wall: short hair is cool for S/S 2020.

Glossy deep side part

6/7

A deep side part is always a quick and reliable way to add some drama to your look – just look at Prada and DROMe. Work a small amount of wet-look gel into your bangs, part your hair down the side, and slick it back to recreate this trend. Fix your hair in place with a glossy shine spray.

Tousled center part

7/7

Unlike the sleek, center parts favoured by other fashion weeks, we noticed at the models at Milan Fashion Week tended to wear their hair tousled and messy. The added texture helps keep things looking relaxed and sexy. If you have fine, straight hair, you should add a bit of wave to your tresses with a curling iron and use some texture spray to impart grit
