There are a few easy ways to tell if your hair is damaged. It could look lifeless and dull, or you could have lots of split ends and brittle strands. If you’ve got fine textured hair, you should probably be aware that your hair damages more easily, which means it takes fewer chemical treatments and less heat to damage your hair than someone with coarse hair.

While fine hair is more susceptible to damage, it also absorbs treatments faster, which means it’s worth looking into pre-shampoo treatments and avoiding using hair masks too often (it will weigh down your hair). If you haven’t found a good hair care range to repair the damage your hair has undergone, here are four ranges we swear by. Mind you, most of these aren’t exactly budget-friendly, though we promise they’ll get the job done. And really, once the damage has been repaired, you can always switch back to a more affordable option for regular use!

Kerastase Resistance Therapiste

I got my hair bleached and dyed earlier this year and I didn’t follow it up with a particularly good hair treatment. That really left my hair quite brittle and damaged, and in serious need of repair. It was around that time that the Kerastase Resistance Therapiste range launched in Singapore, and I got a little travel-size kit to try it out.

It worked wonders on my straggly hair, and within a week my hair was feeling a lot more manageable and soft to the touch! There are four parts to this range, a pre-shampoo balm, the shampoo, a hair mask, and a serum. The brand recommends the pre-shampoo, shampoo and serum for fine hair types, and the shampoo, mask, and serum for thick or coarser hair types. For a more in-depth look at the ingredients and recommended use of the range, you can check out a handy primer here.

The Kerastase Resistance Therapiste range is available from Kerastase hair salons. It’s not an affordable range though, with large 450ml bottles of the shampoo going for over 100 dollars on Lazada.

Tigi Bed Head Urban Antidotes Resurrection Shampoo & Conditioner

2/4

I used to love this brand as a kid, primarily because of the bright and unique packaging which really stood out against the rest of the haircare products at the time. I wasn’t sure if it actually worked that well, but after trying this duo, I can safely say it’s not just great on the outside. I took this duo with me on holiday, and they were so good to my hair that I barely needed any other products to tame it. Of course, I was in Australia at the time which meant lower humidity and frizziness, but I didn’t even have to use any of my regular hair serums to get my hair to look soft and shiny.

You can feel the difference pretty much instantly, especially when using the conditioner. It gets out the tangles in your hair effortlessly, and feels pretty lightweight at the same time. When I googled the products to read the reviews a couple of months later, I wasn’t surprised to find it an extremely well-received range for damaged hair. It’s also supposed to contain a heat protectant and ingredients that help your hair retain colour better.

The Urban Antidoes Resurrection Shampoo ($17 for 250ml) and Conditioner ($15.80 for 200ml) are easily available online from Lazada.sg.

Goldwell Kerasilk Reconstruct range

This range contains Keratin and an ingredient named Hyaloveil, which works to nourish the hair and fill in the gaps deep in the hair shaft. The home care range is meant to be a follow-up after you’ve experienced the In-salon treatment, but I find that it works well on its own as well, even if you haven’t had the treatment done. The range contains a shampoo, conditioner, intensive repair mask, and regenerating blow-dry spray. My favourite component is the blow-dry spray, which also provides heat protection so you don’t damage your hair further when styling it.

The Goldwell Kerasilk Reconstruct range ($40 to $60) is available from Goldwell Kerasilk salons like Chez Vous at Ngee Ann City.

Dove Advanced Hair Series Regenerate Nourishment range

4/4

Dove is no stranger to the market, with its well-loved campaigns and affordable pricing. The brand recently launched a trio of improved hair care lines called the Advanced Hair Series. The key range in the series is the Regenerate Nourishment range, which is perfect for damaged hair. The formula contains a unique ingredient called red algae as well as Keratin repair essence, both of which work to nourish and repair hair damage. Alongside the shampoo and conditioner in this range is a Serum-in-Oil which is said to be the first product of its kind in the market. While the serum cares for the surface of the hair, the oil is meant to penetrate deeper and repair your hair from within.

It suits fine Asian hair types as well, because it’s quite a lightweight combination and won’t weigh down your hair or leave it looking limp. The shampoo ($13.90), conditioner ($13.90), and serum-in-oil ($17.90) are just as affordable and come in some pretty sleek new packaging.
