This festive season, we’re taking inspiration from classic fairytale heroines who have demonstrated tenacity, strength and courage. From Snow White’s scarlet pout to Pocahontas’ sun-kissed glow, these iconic looks have been given a modern-day reinterpretation.

Rather than using stark charcoal grey and black eyeshadows, opt for softer colours like an orange-brown and copper to create this Belle-inspired, subtle smoky eye look. Rimming your lower lash line with a shimmery gold shadow helps to create that bright-eyed look. We love it – especially when paired with a barely there salmon pink lip. Teaming this look with a sparkly yellow party dress isn’t compulsory, but it’s definitely encouraged.

A punchy red lip is usually the star of the show, and many advise against sporting bold blush with a bright lip, but as the “fairest of them all”, Snow White has long subverted this rule. Recreate her look by applying a blue-based red lipstick with a lip brush, followed by a generous application of blush.

Try using pale iridescent blue, pinkish-orange and red eyeshadows to create a mesmerising watercolour eye look, inspired by the mermaid Ariel’s bright and curious personality. Warm up your complexion with a bright peach blush, sweeping the colour inwards from the apples of your cheeks, then upwards towards your temples.

Earthy. Bohemian. Effortless. What’s not to love about our titular heroine, Pocahontas? Cop her look by shaping the brows with a glue stick before filling them in with a brown liquid eyeliner. A shimmery olive shadow graces the lids and lower lash line (with a darker bronze matte eyeshadow in the hollows of the eyelids), while bronzer and highlighter sculpts the face.

Replicating this look is as easy as bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, as Cinderella’s fairy godmother would say. Use cool-toned eyeshadows like pinks, purples and blues to create a romantic hazy eye look. Add definition with a navy eyeliner, extending it past your tear duct to elongate your peepers.
