From the elaborate costumes to the iconic hairstyles, the star-studded cast of the period blockbuster and The Little Nyonya sequel, Emerald Hill, has got their on-screen glam down pat. But what about when they’re not filming?
Speaking to Her World, Romeo Tan, Tasha Low, Chantalle Ng, and Dawn Yeoh reveal their best beauty tips, the hacks they’ve learned on set, and their favorite foods for glowing skin.
Above all else, Chantalle Ng, who is playing a villain for the first time in the drama, prioritises hydrating her skin. “I put on a mask at least once a day, and even twice a day if I’m filming. I think hydration is key,” she says. “Since I’m almost 30, I feel like I’m starting to lose some hydration and moisture,” the actress quipped.
38-year-old Dawn Yeoh, who works out regularly, believes that you are what you eat. “Drink lots of water. I love eating bird’s nest as it helps complement my skincare routine. It’s not just about the topical products you apply—I also believe in caring for the skin from within by taking good supplements.”
Chantalle, who followed her actress mother, Lin Meijiao, to the set of The Little Nyonya as a child, echoes her views. “Our chef makes good desserts that are beneficial for the skin, like bird’s nest and white fungus.”
Tasha Low, 31, who plays the main protagonist Xinniang, is known for her doe eyes. One of her secrets to making her peepers stand out? “Because my eyelashes get very heavy and go straight and flat, I use a heated wooden stick to curl my lashes.”
Bad news for those of us who love hot pot. Romeo Tan explains, “Because I get water retention easily, I always take my coffee black in the morning.” He adds, “I also avoid salty foods like hot pot.”
