Say ‘Cartier’ and the first thing that pops to mind are diamonds. Lots and lots of glamourous, girl’s-best-friend diamonds. And that was what Cartier’s master perfumer Mathilde Laurent sought to capture in Carat Eau de Parfum, the latest addition to their fragrance line.
“I wanted to create a fragrance that sparkles, alive with all the fire of a diamond.”
She took an unusual approach with her bejewelled inspiration – the light that reflects and refracts from the precious stone. Dazzling light enhanced to a prismatic show of rainbow colours as it goes through the diamond, and flowers were chosen to recreate this imagery.

Red tulips, orange honeysuckles, yellow daffodils, green ylang-ylang, blue hyacinth, indigo irises and and violet violets work in harmony to capture the rainbow. The resulting scent? A bright, clean white floral scent that comes with a hint of honeyed fruitiness. There’s no denying it, Carat radiates the best blooms of spring.

Carat’s bottle design is also another nod to the modern scent. The Art Deco inspiration is updated with squares edges that adds to the contemporary vibe of the perfume. The clean lines are reminiscent of Must de Cartier, another fragrance in their line, but takes a departure from the classical designs of other Cartier perfumes.
