The hit K-drama Squid Game has catapulted Korean model Jung Hoyeon into international stardom. HoYeon captivated audiences with her convincing performance as North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok. We’re excited to see her take the global entertainment scene by storm. In the meantime, here are some beauty tips from the model-actress.

Faux freckles FTW

HoYeon captivated audiences with her convincing performance as North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok. Besides her stellar acting, the breakout star also won viewers over with her iconic beauty look featuring Instagram-friendly trends such as fake freckles. For natural-looking freckles that will have anyone fooled (even your significant other!), try creating small dots on your cheeks and nose with a waterproof eyeliner pencil. Start with creating faint dots before applying more pressure to create freckles that are more obvious.

She got her good skin habits from her mama

When Beauty Tap asked her about the biggest beauty lesson she learnt from her mother,  Hoyeon revealed that the latter taught her the importance of caring for her skin. Bearing this advice in mind, the 27-year-old is diligent about taking off her makeup. According to the same article, Hoyeon soothes her skin with an aloe vera mask on days where her skin feels irritated.

She drinks lots of water and always wears sunscreen

For Squid Game’s player 67, staying hydrated is crucial for good skin. She’s also made it clear that she takes sun protection seriously. “Drinking two litres of water a day, washing your face only with water when it’s morning, don’t touch your face often with your hands, and make sure to wear sunscreen! I try not to give my skin a strong stimulation and I try to protect the fluids and oils that come from my body as much as possible!” she told W magazine.

She is a sheet mask enthusiast

In the same interview, Hoyeon shared that she can’t live without “Sheet Masks. During Fashion Week, my skin becomes sensitive, so I always put on a sheet mask before I go to bed. It soothes my skin.”

If anyone can sell us on the power of facial massage, it’s the “Korea’s Next Top Model” alumnus. “If your face is swollen, press this point (crook of your thumb). This is good for circulation,’ Hoyeon explained in a video for Vogue. Hoyeon is clearly onto something. Facial massages are great for depuffing the face and imparting a healthy glow by stimulating blood circulation.

She’s nailed down the routine to keep her skin looking its best

According to the same video by Vogue, after toning and before moisturising her face with customised skincare from Clinique, she applies essence. To keep her pout moisturised, the supermodel counts on the drugstore cult-favourite Lucas Papaw Remedies Ointment ($9.90).

She loves a good two-tone lip

Who knew that brown and red lipstick would look so amazing when combined? In the video with Vogue, the rising star demonstrated how she achieves her everyday gradient lip. She starts by applying a brown lip crayon all over her lips before dabbing on some red lippy in the centre of her pout – LOVE!
