how to make your eyes look bigger and brighter

Whether you have hooded eyes, double eyelids or monolids, we all are after the same “bigger is better” goal in the eye department. Whether it’s work stress, a lack of sleep or just genetics that make your eyes look tired, these tips will get you looking and feeling like you’re back on top.

#1 De-puff your eye area

If your eyes are surrounded by puffiness, they’re naturally going to look smaller. Try de-puffing or cooling eye creams to calm any inflammation and swelling, and if you want them to work faster you could stick them in the fridge overnight so they’re nice and cold in the morning.

#2 Conceal shadows

Shadows and dark eye circles can overwhelm and make your eyes look small. Covering up the darkness and evening out the colour of your skin around your eyes will draw more attention to the definition around your eyes like any eyeliner or lashes. Dark circles out of control? #3 Nude liner

A brighter beige or nude eye pencil across your lower waterline is going to make your eyes look larger and more awake. Avoid throwing a dark colour on that waterline as it can really close in on your eyes.

#4 Inner corner highlight

Bring some light to the inner corners of your eyes with any bright eyeshadow or highlighter, but don’t go overboard. You want to make sure the area is concealed first if there are any shadows, after which a highlight will brighten the area and leave your eyes looking wider in the process.

#5 Curl your lashes and apply mascara

To get your lashes fanning out, curling them is a must. Ideally, you’ll want a lengthening mascara to get them looking even longer, but make sure you build up the volume at the base of your lashes for more definition. To make your eyes look simply larger and rounder, focus the mascara on the middle of your lashes. For wider eyes, fan out the outer corner of your lashes instead.

#6 Line your eyes right

The last thing you want to do is encircle your eyes entirely in a black eye pencil. With your upper lash line, keep your eyeliner as close to the roots of your eyelashes as possible, filling in the gaps between lashes to make them look fuller.
