Annyeong! I was recently in Seoul for the launch of Laneige’s reformulated Water Sleeping Mask (launching in May for $42).
Work aside, the South Korean beauty brand hosted a Sleepless Club Party at Y1975 – a bar lounge in Cheongdam-dong – last Tuesday night.
Besides making our own cocktails and getting our makeup retouched (my new fave lippie is the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar in #5 Daring Darling), we got to see a string of Korean celebrities in the flesh (OMG!) while listening to tunes spun by DJ Julian Quintart (he’s currently a cast member on the Korean talk show Non-Summit).
It was pretty exciting as I’ve only seen most of these celebrities on music programmes (like Inkigayo and Music Bank) or on drama serials. In attendance:
Victoria from girl group f(x)
Heo Ga Yoon from girl group 4 Minute
Yoon Bo Mi from girl group Apink
Laneige Homme Ambassador Song Jae Rim
(From left) Chinese model Yulina and South Korean model Hwang Se On
Here’s what I learnt:
1. It’s tough getting anywhere near the celebrities. They have their managers and a crowd surrounding them at all times. Still, making it close enough and getting a #wefie is not entirely impossible – see #3.
2. They are really only there for a few minutes. They come, say hi, make a round, take some pictures and leave. So no, they won’t stay and boogie the night away with you sadly 🙁
3. Be quick (being kiasu now might help). Before you get close enough to the celeb, make sure your camera is on stand-by so you can click and snap a picture immediately. When you make it close enough, politely ask if you can take a picture and instantly get into position to make it all happen.
