3 embarrassing beauty problems and how to fix themWe’ve all got our body hang-ups, that’s one thing we can be sure of. However, some problems are of a more sensitive nature, and often leave us tongue-tied when walking into a pharmacy or beauty store to ask for help.

The important thing to remember is that you’re never alone when it comes to the words we like to whisper in a hurried fashion. “Embarrassing body problems” shouldn’t be muttered – they should be solved. There are plenty of products on the market to help combat issues, and we’ve hunted a few down to help.

Sweating
Excessive sweating is a common problem, and one that particularly plagues fashionistas who are limited to what they can wear because of it.

Deodorants and antiperspirant are used to mask smell and to slow the flow of sweat, and are the most commonly used products in the war against overactive sweat glands.

There are plenty of recommended brands on the shelves, including more affordable products such as Dove or Sure.

Kiehl’s Superbly Efficient Antiperspirant & Deodorant Cream is an unscented balm that offers 24-hour protection against sweat and odour. The price tag is certainly a little steeper than other purse-friendly brands, but it is great at keeping excessive sweating and unsightly yellow underarm marks at bay.

Clinique’s antiperspirant-deodorant roll-on is also another high-performance product. This little gem boasts a non-staining formula and protects against wetness and odour.

Aside from using antiperspirants, you should also watch your diet. Strong smelling foods such as garlic, onions and curry can come out through sweat, which is never pleasant if you excessively perspire.

Arms
Bumpy arms are a particular beauty bugbear – especially when you want to show them off during the summer months.

The name of this dry skin condition is keratosis pilaris; and it is more common than you may think. The totally harmless but annoying goosebump-like skin can affect around 40 to 50 per cent of the adult population, but can be improved with a regular skincare regime.

Look for a pH balanced body scrub suitable for more sensitive skin and use in the shower daily to exfoliate the area.

There are many affordable products at your local pharmacy including Origins Modern Friction For The Body, Soap & Glory The Scrub Of Your Life and The Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub. Remember to moisturise the area afterwards to ensure the skin is properly hydrated.

Blotchy skin
Blotchiness and uneven skin tone can affect your confidence – whether it is on your face or body. The secret to evening out your complexion is to exfoliate regularly to get rid of the dead surface skin.

While blotchy skin can be caused by factors out of your control (including heredity) – you can keep it at bay by protecting against other things such as sun damage.

Keep sun exposure to a minimum and always apply suncreen – even on cloudy days.

If you want to create the illusion of bronzed, glowing skin, use fake tan. It’s safer!
