The oxygen facial has long been a pre-event essential for those in the know. Celebrated for its ability to instantly brighten, hydrate and plump the skin without any downtime, it has built a loyal following among anyone who needs their complexion looking its best at short notice.
So when Her World Spa and Hair Awards reviewer Angela Guo walked into medical aesthetics clinic IDS Aesthetics for the O2 Opulence (O2O) with Intraceuticals treatment – recognised as Best Red-Carpet Glow Facial at this year’s Spa Awards – she came in curious.
“I was intrigued to learn that it is sought after for achieving a radiant, luminous glow and creating a perfect canvas for makeup,” she shares, along with the skin concerns she wanted to address, including clogged pores and dryness.
The deep dive
Each session of the IDS O2 Opulence treatment starts with a double cleanse to remove makeup, grime and sunscreen. This is followed by microdermabrasion – a technique that uses gentle suction to lift away build-up and refine texture, rather than a traditional physical exfoliator.
By clearing away dead skin cells and surface congestion, this step creates a smoother, more receptive canvas for the active ingredients that follow. Mild extractions come next – a step Angela found far more comfortable than expected.
Then came the star step of the treatment: the infusion of the Opulence serum, delivered deep into the skin via a pressurised oxygen applicator. Applied in light, sweeping motions across the face, the cool mist-like stream gives the treatment its signature sensorial appeal and, as Angela shares, felt “light, airy and completely painless”.
The serum comprises low-weight hyaluronic acid for hydration, salicylic acid to gently exfoliate and help decongest clogged pores, and sodium ascorbyl phosphate (a form of Vitamin C) to brighten and deliver antioxidant protection – leaving skin feeling hydrated, refined, and visibly brighter.
Red LED light therapy follows to support recovery and circulation, before the treatment is sealed with moisturiser and sunscreen.
Star treatment
Gentle enough for sensitive skin, the O2 Opulence with Intraceuticals treatment works equally well as a standalone treat or a pre-event essential for those who need their skin looking its best with no recovery time.
Angela’s results were immediate: skin that looked visibly brighter and more luminous the moment she left the treatment room – with no redness or downtime to contend with.
“My skin stayed radiant and clear for days,” Angela noted. She also observed an improvement in the appearance of her acne scars – something she hadn’t anticipated, and a testament to the Opulence serum’s brightening and resurfacing effects beyond delivering an immediate glow.
“Overall, it was a wonderful pampering experience that felt both comfortable and effective,” Angela concludes. The event-ready glow, it turns out, is more accessible than you’d think.
