Brighter and smoother skin, smaller pores: Laser treatment targets multiple facial concerns at the same time
Using dual-wavelength technology, the Mizu Multifractional Laser tackles various skin issues such as pigmentation, large pores and uneven texture
By Her World -
From sun exposure to the natural effects of ageing, our skin goes through a lot over the years.
Laser treatments are often sought to help improve skin tone and overall clarity, and evolving technology continues to expand the available options. One such option is the Mizu Multifractional Laser (MMF), which was recognised in this year’s Spa Awards for its multi-targeted approach to addressing various skin concerns.
Unlike traditional lasers that typically target one skin concern at a time, the MMF treatment uses dual-wavelength technology to address multiple issues in a single session by delivering fractional laser energy to different layers of the skin.
The 1550nm wavelength penetrates deep into the dermis to stimulate collagen production, helping to improve acne scars, fine lines and skin elasticity. At the same time, the 1927nm wavelength works on the skin’s surface to smoothen skin texture, lighten superficial pigmentation (such as freckles) and brighten your overall skin tone.
This combination approach is suitable for individuals seeking to manage various common skincare concerns such as pigmentation, acne scars, fine lines and dullness, with minimal downtime.
In addition to targeting specific skin concerns, the MMF laser treatment also supports overall skin renewal by removing older, damaged skin cells – also known as senescent cells – that contribute to inflammation and accelerate skin ageing. By targeting and removing these cells, the treatment helps promote healthier cell turnover and supports a more balanced complexion over time.
What you can expect from the treatment
The treatment process begins with a consultation at Mizu Aesthetic Clinic. A skin analysis is first conducted to assess your skin condition and customise the treatment to your needs. Before the procedure begins, a numbing cream is applied to help minimise discomfort.
The laser session typically lasts around 20 to 25 minutes. The device is passed over the skin in four cycles, with each pass gradually increasing in intensity. The settings are adjusted based on your skin concerns to ensure a more targeted approach. After the laser treatment, a cold gel and light therapy may be applied to calm the skin and support the recovery process.
One benefit of the MMF treatment is that it creates tiny microchannels in the skin, which can help improve the absorption of your own skincare products post-treatment.
Following the session, mild redness is expected and some micro-scabbing may occur as part of the skin’s natural healing process. A mild steroid cream is recommended to aid recovery, and results may be seen about one to two weeks post-treatment. Depending on the skin condition, a series of four to six sessions may be recommended.
What our reviewer said
“After numbing cream was applied, the doctor came into the room to answer any questions I had about the treatment. There were four passes of the laser treatment with discomfort levels slowly increasing with each pass, but it was overall bearable. I could still hold a conversation with the doctor while the treatment was going on.”
While the treatment is suitable for most skin types, it is not recommended for those with severe acne and medical conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
As with any cosmetic procedure, it is advisable to consult a medical professional to determine suitability and get a personalised skin assessment.
