After making close to $300,000 on her live stream, Kim Lim reveals if she has plans to do more
The billionaire heiress had previously posted on Instagram that she plans to donate the proceeds to charity. We also checked in with her to ask about her plans for her next live stream

Kim Lim’s most expensive bag, the $500,000 (as estimated on Sotheby’s) Hermes Diamond Himalayan Birkin may not be on sale, but like many of us who were following her on her live stream, it’s revealed on an Instagram story, that she may have sold close to 100 designer bags. And if that’s really the case, it’s no secret that the beauty entrepreneur may have just made a whopping six-figure sum from her two-day live gig!
When we reached out to Kim and her team about it, they were tight-lipped about how many bags were sold exactly, but she was happy to share that the real reason for selling her bags online, was to declutter for “good fengshui”. And why did she have to declutter? Kim cautions not to follow her bad habits as she never used to look at price tags and admits to buying the same style of bags more than once - hence the massive collection.
Of course, we had to have a chat with our 2022 July cover girl about her viral livestream.
Why are you selling your bags on Instagram Live?
Everyone has been telling me for years that I needed to declutter and I’ve even been renting spaces to keep my things because my house has ran out of space. I’ve reached a point where I feel like it just got too much, all my bags have to be cramped together and Singapore weather also makes it very difficult to maintain their conditions. My family has also been pushing me to get rid of my things so… I guess I woke up one day and just decided that it’s finally time to sell some of them! Plus a lot of my friends have been telling me that many people really want such bags but their budget may be an issue, so I thought, why not share the love?
How many bags do you have in your collection before the declutter?
I have too many to keep track! I love to collect and would usually get one bag in multiple colours, especially the classics.
How did you decide which items to let go of?
It was really hard to decide [laughs]. My friends came over to help me sort out the bags and told me that some of them are similar to the ones I’m using, which is true. In the end I just decided to do it but now that I think about it, I’m not sure how I managed to let it go and I’m wondering if I will regret selling them [laughs].
How many bags of the same design in a different colour do you own?
Most of the classic ones, I have in multiple colours. I usually would get the black version and other colour editions if any or special editions!
We noticed that a few of the pieces you sold are now being resold on Carousell—how do you feel about that?
It’s really very frustrating that there are people who do this. Honestly, when I decided to let these bags go at a more affordable price, it’s really because I hope these bags can go to people who truly want them. But I guess I didn’t expect that there are people who will do such things. I’m sure those who truly want the bags must be really frustrated too because they would have really cherished the bags instead.
at made you decide to give out vouchers at the end of your stream?
I was doing the live stream till really late, and I saw many people still watching the live stream in the middle of the night so I felt bad when a lot of people tried to bid but couldn’t get what they wanted. So I decided to give out some vouchers to everyone as a token of appreciation.
Will you do this again and when?
Maybe not, maybe yes, but definitely not anytime soon. But what I can say is, it was a positive experience and I am grateful for the overwhelming response and support.
