1. Uncontrollably Fond

Starring: Kim Woo Bin (as Shin Joon-young) and Miss A’s Suzy (as No Eul)
The lowdown: Joon-young and No Eul are estranged high-school sweethearts who cross paths 10 years down the road. He’s now a top star, while she’s a documentary producer, and they’re about to embark on a predictably complicated journey to settle their unresolved feelings.

Uncontrollably Fond is slated to be the next drama at the top of the Hallyu Wave and it’s easy to see why. It’s got two of the industry’s hottest stars and a plot that runs along at a refreshingly fast pace – it’s only episode two at the time of writing, but we’re already privy to a plethora of scandalous secrets and shenanigans that include illegitimate births and unscrupulous cover-ups. Say goodbye to your social life on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Uncontrollably Fond is available on Viu Premium right after Korea’s telecast every Wednesday & Thursday at 10pm local time.

2. Doctors

Starring: Park Shin Hye (as Yoo Hye-jung) and Kim Rae-Won (as Ji-hong).
The lowdown: Hye-jung is a feisty doctor who used to be a wayward student. Her love life takes an unexpectedly positive turn when she meets Ji-hong, the caring teacher who set her on the straight and narrow path 13 years ago.

Park Shin Hye shows off her considerable acting chops as she convincingly pulls off her role as a hot-headed neurosurgeon. The 26-year-old actress, who has had her fair share of playing somewhat contrived heroine-in-distress characters, gets bonus points for executing badass moves like these, and all reportedly without a stunt double, too. We’re also happy to see YG Entertainment model-actress and #girlcrush Lee Sung-kyung back on our screens as Hye-jung’s frenemy.

Doctors is available on Viu Premium every Tue & Wed, eight hours after Korea’s telecast.

3. W – Two Worlds

Starring: Han Hyo Joo (as Oh Yeon-joo) and Lee Jong-Suk (as Kang Cheol)
The lowdown: Yeon-joo is a cardio surgeon-in-training and daughter of the Webtoon artist who created Kang Cheol (yes, he’s a fictional character in this drama). By some strange twist of fate, their worlds intersect and an unlikely romance is ignited between the two.

This series marks Han Hyo Joo’s return to television after six long years, so we’re pretty psyched to check out this somewhat conventional supernatural show. We also like the pairing with model-turned-actor Lee Jong-suk, who showed great chemistry with Park Shin Hye in the 2015 drama Pinocchio – so much so that fans thought they were dating for real. Can’t wait to see how this onscreen noona-dongsaeng (May-December) romance pans out!

W is available on Viu Premium every Thursday & Friday from 21 July, eight hours after Korea’s telecast.
