Make these 8 natural household cleaners for the kitchen, bathroom and living room

Use baking soda, lemon and vinegar to create natural cleaners that remove grease and stains, refresh your rooms and get rid of bad smells.

1. GLASS/WINDOW CLEANER: WHITE VINEGAR + RUBBING ALCOHOL* + ESSENTIAL OILS

Combine ¼ cup white vinegar, ¼ cup rubbing alcohol and 10 drops of essential oil of your choice in a spray bottle. Spray solution on soft cloth then clean glass. This works on any glass surfaces such as your mirrors as well.

2. AIR FRESHENER: WATER+RUBBING ALCOHOL+ESSENTIAL OILS

Combine 1 cup water, ½ cup rubbing alcohol and 2-3 drops of essential oil of your choice in a spray bottle. You can use the solution to freshen up the stale smell of your room or as a fabric refresher. Be careful not to use it on delicate materials.

3. GREASE CLEANER: WHITE VINEGAR + WATER + ESSENTIAL OILS

Combine 1 cup of white vinegar, 2 cups of water and 2-3 drops of essential oils.  Use it to wipe away the grease on your cooking hood or hob. Refrain from using the solution on porous materials such as marble.

4. COFFE CUP AND TEA CUP STAIN REMOVER: BAKING SODA + HOT WATER

Soak stained cups in one part baking soda and two parts hot water overnight. Rinse and wash cups in the morning.

5. MICROWAVE OVEN CLEANER: LEMON + WATER

Squeeze one lemon worth of lemon juice into 1 cup of water in a microwave-safe bow. Placed the squeezed lemon into bowl. Microwave the solution for 2 minutes. Let the solution sit inside the oven for another 5 minutes to let the steam do the hard work of loosening the grim and grease. After 5 minutes, wipe the insides of the oven with a clean cloth.

6. ODOUR REMOVER FOR FABRICS: BAKING SODA

To remove odour on your upholstered furniture or carpets and rugs, sprinkle baking soda and let it sit for 15 minutes before vacuuming.

7. REFRIGERATOR ODOUR REMOVER: LEMON

Get rid of bad smells in your fridge with lemon. Placed slices of the fruit in a bowl and set it at one corner of the refrigerator.

8. TOILET BOWL CLEANER: BAKING SODA + WHITE VINEGAR

Combine 1 cup of baking sofa with 2 cups of white vinegar. Pour solution around the insides of the toilet bowl and use a brush to scrub.

*Rubbing alcohol can be purchased at any personal care store and pharmacy such as Watsons and Guardian.
