In the run-up to the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 17, Changi Airport has got in on the action, bringing a part of the galaxy far, far away to fans and travellers alike.

Take photos with the X-wing and TIE fighters

Till January 5, 2016, a life-sized X-wing fighter takes pride of place at Terminal 3’s (T3) Departure Hall. Take advantage of the ultimate photo opportunity as you don Star Wars costumes and take the hot seat behind the controls in the cockpit. You’ll get to bring home your photos for free, but you need a ticket to have your photo taken. Ticket numbers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis over four daily photo sessions: 10am-12pm, 1pm- 3pm, 4pm-6pm (except Saturdays) and 7pm-9pm.

More photo ops abound at Terminal 2’s (T2) Departure Hall, where you’ll see a TIE fighter (above) guarded by five Stormtroopers. Look out for the Star Wars-themed gate holdroom and aerobridge at gate E26 as well, where more life-sized Stormtrooper and R2-D2 figurines are stationed to welcome passengers.

Learn to speak Star Wars

Behind the Star Wars LED backdrop at T3, learn popular Star Wars phrases in 10 languages at the “language centre” manned by the droid C-3PO. Fans can also admire a showcase of Star Wars models such as those of the Millennium Falcon and Star Destroyer.

Meet pilots and Stormtroopers

X-wing fighter pilots and Imperial Stormtroopers (above right) will greet visitors every Saturday at 4pm, till January 2, 2016 (except on December 19). Stand a chance to win exclusive Star Wars merchandise at the same time.

Take part in playground wars

The younger ones are not forgotten – they get a bouncy playground, located at T3’s Departure Hall (Check-in Row 11). Inspired by the Hardangerjokulen Glacier, one of the Star Wars filming locations, the Norway-themed playhouse features a four-metre high slide, an illuminated ball pit, a ski slope and even a rock climbing lighthouse station for juniors to conquer.

While the youngsters have their fun, families and friends can enjoy some friendly competition as they navigate through an obstacle course with the Sphero, the little duo-spherical robot that will make its big screen debut this December.
