Scape – Naughty or Nice Workshop

Tangs – Christmas Shopping Party

On that day, from 1-8pm, everyone gets to try their hand at personalising their own Christmas glass ornaments by Bullarum, or unique terrarium baubles by Atrio, for your Christmas tree.

Or, make your own candles from scratch at To Be Calm and get a customised fragrance to match the season. You’ll also get the opportunity to colour in your own Just Add Colour mugs ($28 for one, $53.20 for two and $75.60 for three), which come in various intricate black-and-white designs, from 12-6pm.

There’s something for kids too. They’ll be treated to churros and cotton candy with any purchase made at the store, plus balloon sculpting, face painting and more. For grown-ups, there’s cocktails, and cheese and wine tasting as well.

 

 

Muji Porcelain Painting Workshop

 

Want to make your own personalised tableware? Learn the different brush techniques needed to create beautiful designs on porcelain, perfect for gifting or to show off at your upcoming Christmas party.

For $30, Muji and its collaborator My Sweet Scarlett Paperie, a stationery and gift shop, will provide all the tools, materials and instructions needed for this two-hour workshop. Register here by Dec 8.

Capitol Piazza – Christmas Watercolouring Workshop

When: Dec 11, 2-3.30pm

In conjunction with her solo art exhibition, Reveries of Recess, from Dec 9-19, local artist Shen Jiaqi will be teaching basic watercolour and ink techniques to make the prettiest greeting cards. Beginners aged 10 and above are welcome.

Anjali Chocolat – Wine and Chocolate Pairing Workshop

Christmas is a time to indulge and what better way is there to do so than to enjoy a glass of wine with some artisanal chocolate? Needless to say, this workshop ($75 per person) is right up our alley. Sample Anjali Chocolat handmade toasted almond rochers, bonbons, truffles and more, made with Belgian couverture and other high quality ingredients, and learn which chocolates are best paired with different Italian dessert wines to enhance the flavours of both foods. You’ll even get to roll your own truffle for the last wine pairing. 

 

Costa Coffee – Gingerbread Decorating Workshop

Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it, too – or in this case, your gingerbread men? When you buy a pair of Costa Coffee’s scrumptious gingerbread men ($10 for two) at this fun workshop, you’ll get to decorate them before enjoying the perfectly spiced and chewy confectionery. Proceeds will go towards raising funds for Children’s Wishing Well, a charity that provides assistance to children from low-income families.

 

 

 

The Fullerton Hotel – Paper Pleating Workshop

When: Dec 17, 2.30-5pm

Where: East Garden Foyer, The Fullerton Hotel

If stepping into The Fullerton Hotel fills you with wonder, you’ll want to check it out when it’s all dressed up for the festive season. Fairy lights and velvet ribbons strung up along the banisters add to the hotel’s old world charm, but a twist to the classic look is the carefully handcrafted origami decorations perched on the Christmas trees.

These beautiful paper birds are the work of Singapore designer Melvin Ong from Desinere, who is conducting a paper pleating workshop ($65 per person) for beginners. You’ll get to make a handmade paper vase to display at home or give away as a thoughtful gift.

Tangs – Gingerbread Mini Village Kit Workshop

Where: Workshop Room, Level 4, Tangs Plaza, 310 Orchard Road

If you want to scale up your gingerbread game and are willing to spare a little more cash, sign up for this workshop and assemble a whole gingerbread village ($40 per person), complete with an assortment of candy and ready-to-use icing. Don’t let the kids gobble up too much of the raw materials because you’ll want to bring your finished creative masterpiece home and display it amongst your table spread come Christmas.

 

 

Ma Maison – Afternoon Tea and Mini Icing Workshop

The sugary and adorable end products of this parent-child workshop are guaranteed to delight little ones with a sweet tooth. Enjoy complimentary afternoon coffee or tea (and hot chocolate or juice for your child) with a cream puff for each of you as you decorate Christmas cookies in the cosy set-up.

For $35 per pair, you’ll learn how to ice pretty designs onto two cookies from a trained culinary instructor. Top up $15 for an additional attendee or $5 for an additional cookie.
