5 must-see Nathan Hartono performances before his Sing! China finals

Nathan Hartono has reached the finals of reality singing competition Sing! China 2016, formerly known as The Voice of China, and here in Singapore, we couldn’t be prouder of the homegrown artist.

We’ll be rooting for him this Friday as he pits himself against five other contestants to clinch the top spot. Here’s your chance to catch up on his past performances – they’re sure to make you a fan, if you aren’t already one.

Locked Out Of Heaven – Bruno Mars cover

Nathan attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston and performed this energetic number at the Berklee Spring Singer Showcase 2014.

He works his magic on the crowd, showing off not only his smooth vocals but also some slick dance moves. We can’t help but groove along with him.

Thinkin Bout Love – Nathan Hartono

Here’s an original song that brings to mind our favourite tunes from Jason Mraz and John Mayer. With this light-hearted, rhythmic and catchy piece, Nathan revives a brand of pop rock we sorely miss in this age of electronic dance music.

Royals – Lorde Cover

Teaming up with songstress Cilla Chan, Nathan proves his versatility in this beautiful acoustic cover. The duo executes their harmonies flawlessly and effortlessly. It’s simply mesmerising to watch.

Desperado – Eagles / Don’t Forget – Angus Tang

This was Nathan’s superb performance at the semi-finals of Sing! China 2016, which aired on Sep 30. His decision to perform this mash-up of a classic English and Mandarin song served him well and earned him the top score out of the night’s six finalists.

愛愛愛 方大同

We’ve seen him sing, dance and play the guitar, but did you know that Nathan also beatboxes? He flaunts his skills on this creative multi-screen music video.

The 2014 amateur production is also one of his first forays into Chinese music and reminds us of how far he’s come as a singer since then.
