1) Over-The-Top Milkshakes
This OTT milkshake from Benjamin Browns is shaking things up in town. It looks like a complete diabetic mess, but judging from the reviews, it’s definitely worth checking out!.
I CAN’T EVEN. Ask for the Unicorn Cake Shake ($14.90)
2) Centre-filled Churros
For those of you who don’t know, Churros 101 is a franchaise from Korea that celebrities rave about. Also, we found out that the Churros 101 founder was inspired by San Churros from Australia. This means long, crisp churros, not the short stubby ones that we’ve spotted in the market lately! Personally, I loveeee crisp churros!
Must try: The cream-cheese filled churro! It’s warm, crunchy, with an amazing creamy centre!
3) Chirashi-don style dishes
You can get this at Ryu’s, a new Japanese place at Capitol Piazza. They call this the Okamochi box, and each drawer opens to reveal a portion of the meal. The top tray’s a starter, the middle tray opens to reveal barachirashi sushi – sushi rice filled with tuna, salmon roe, prawns tamago and more. The bottom drawer has a sheet of seaweed, some wasabi and a sushi rolling mat for you to do it on your own. Fun!
Alright, alright, this is not chirashi, but it’s pretty similar! Aloha Poke serves up Hawaiian style poke, which is a big bowl of rich topped with plenty of sashimi, pineapple, salad and bits of crunchy deliciousness. The owners of Aloha Poke flew all the way to Hawaii to get some ideas on who to whip up this delicious dish, and they brought it to the CBD for you busy people to munch on.
It’s twice the price it is in Hong Kong, but Jenny Bakery cookies still sold out in two days! The Ang Mo Kio outlet is really happening, so to get your hands on these delectable, buttery cookies you should queue early!
