ALMOND CHOCOLATES
$12.90, from Pantler.

We love the snap and crunch, and thanks to the bittersweet Belgian chocolate coating, these toasted almond bites do double duty for both sweet and savoury cravings.

TERRA MEDITERRANEAN EXOTIC VEGETABLE CHIPS
$6.50, from Cold Storage.

It’s a mixed bag of crunchy sweet potato, parsnip, taro, and yuca (a type of cassava) chips, so every handful is a surprise. There are hints of onion and garlic in the seasoning, and a lively zesty fragrance that kept us reaching for more. Our only gripe: The yuca chips are sliced a bit thicker than we’d like.

OVOMALTINE CHOCOLATE BAR
$4.20, from Candy Empire.

These Ovomaltine (that’s Ovaltine’s original name) chocolate bars get two thumbs up for the addictive crunchy texture. It’s a teensy bit on the sweet side, which worked out to our advantage because that makes it easy to stop at two squares.

WATERTHINS CLASSIC CHEDDAR CHEESE TWISTS
$6.20, from Market Place.

Salty, with a complex taste of cheddar and parmesan, these savoury cheese twists will be your lifeline when the hunger pangs hit. It’s surprisingly filling too ─ one or two sticks is enough to satisfy.

CRABTREE & EVELYN STRAWBERRIES AND CLOTTED CREAM BICUITS
$18, from Crabtree & Evelyn.

It’s better known for hand creams and body washes but Crabtree & Evelyn is not just a pretty face when it comes to snacks. These biscuits are buttery with a shortbread-like texture, and anointed with wisps of strawberry and clotted cream flavor.
