SPA WITH MA
Spend an afternoon at the spa with mum, and treat her to a pampering full-body massage. Hotel spas are our top picks – most are luxe and posh with well-trained therapists. Also nice are spas that are close to nature, like Spa Esprit at Beauty Emporium (#02-01, 8D Dempsey Road, tel: 6479-0070) and Aramsa (1382 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, tel: 6456-6556) at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.
BOOK A STAYCATION
Dad gets a treat too, thanks to mum! Book them a holiday close to home, throw in dining vouchers and suggestions of activities that they will enjoy. A colleague booked a staycation for her parents and their dog, and we think it’s a swell idea! Capella Singapore and Conrad Centennial Singapore are two such pet-friendly hotels with dog-friendly trails nearby that welcome pooches (on leash).
TAKE HER OUT TO SEA
What about planning a surprise family party for mum on a yacht? Opt for a short four- to five-hour cruise around Singapore waters – no passport needed. Choose from different sizes of the yacht (they typically accommodate from 12 to 30 passengers) and your cruise package; charter rates start from $1,000. Ideal if you have a couple of siblings to split the bill with. Check out yacht rental companies like Yacht Charter , Lloyd Marine and Marine Bookings.
AN EVENING OF MUSIC
Plan for an early dinner before heading to Gardens by The Bay this Saturday for a concert in the park – if you plan to eat in the vicinity, there is Pollen, a fine-dining European restaurant, and Majestic Bay Seafood, a modern Chinese restaurant. The Philharmonic Winds (Singapore) and local vocalists will be performing songs that mums will love, under the Supertrees from 7pm to 8.45pm.
