Full-day Carousel programme
Can’t take leave? This full-day, 5-day programme keeps the kids educated and entertained with English enrichment, creative art, as well as speech and drama. Children will visit the Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay, and the Botanic Gardens as the programme uses the Timmy and Tammy series of local story books.

White Sands: Urban camping

How does camping – in a mall – sound to you? White Sands in Pasir Ris has teamed up with The Singapore Scout Association to hold an overnight Urban Camping event from Sept 3 to 4. There’s no minimum age, but kids below 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

When: Sept 3 and 4
Fees: $50 tent fee (accommodates up to four, with dinner and breakfast included). You will need to bring your own tent. Otherwise, sign up for the Campire BBQ on Sept 3 at $10 (adult) or $5 (kids below 10).

CraftySG workshops

Learn how to make cards and tags, create your own paper piecing, embellishment and sentiments to use on the cards and tags. Make as many cards and tags as you can in an hour!

Kids get to build games and animations… and do a good deed too! The centre works with the Little Arts Academy so that kids joining the Beginner’s Scratch class can give the gift of a coding class to kids from low-income families who wouldn’t otherwise have access. 

Gallery & Co: Fun paper making

Recycling can be fun and it’s a great way to use up all that old newspaper… and old magazines too!

Movie time: Pete’s Dragon

A forest ranger grows up hearing tales about a friendship between a boy and a dragon. One day, she finds 10-year-old Pete, who lives in the forest, and his best friend, Elliot – a real-life you-know-what.

Can she uncover the truth about them? Cue Disney magic. Pete’s Dragon opens in cinemas on Sept 1.

Snuggle Up and Sleep
Parent and child are invited to a slumber party where drama educators will guide participants along. Your kids will enjoy the playing out this story while learning new words at the same time.

Sheep Hunt
Parent and child are led on a wild adventure in the land of sheep as they look for that elusive green sheep among the scared, brave, ‘wind’, ‘wave’, ‘bath’, ‘bed’, red and blue varieties! All will experience the magic of Drama through music, movement, simple props and rhyming text. The child will also discover colours and the concept of opposites.

Fairground by Beyond Social Services (Sept 4) 

Enjoy browsing through a flea market, play carnival games and let the teens loose on the Zouk dance floor – all for a good cause.

There’s also a lightsaber workshop, virtual reality session with Samsung VR goggles, as well as lucky draw.

Organised annually, Fairground is Beyond Social Services’ outreach initiative to raise awareness of those affected by poverty.

Every dollar from coupon sales goes to Beyond’s programmes, and the event costs are sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Metta Charity Run 2016 (Sept 10)

Sign up by Aug 31 for this annual charity run organised by Metta Welfare Association and enjoy parent-child bonding for a good cause.

Besides the usual 10km and 5km categories, there’s also a parent and child 1.5km fun run, which has challenging games and activities along the way.

Afterwards, enjoy yourselves at the mini carnival, which will have food and drinks, performances and a lucky draw.

Proceeds benefit disability care, medical care, special education and early intervention programmes for some 1,000 beneficiaries from various races and religions.

Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir: The SSCC Experience 2016

If your kids love singing, sign them up for a full day of music and voice workshops.

They will also get to sing with senior choir members and perform at the Victoria Concert Hall for an informal concert at the end of the day (you can get up to 8 tickets per child so relatives can watch). 

When: Sept 6 (the Sept 5 session is full), 10am to 5pm followed by concert from 5.30-6.30pm.
Fees: $88 for kids aged 8 (born in 2008) to 14. Lunch is provided.
