The venerable Queen of Caldecott, Zoe Tay turns 51 in a week on Jan 10. Not only does the actress possess great style and beauty secrets, Zoe’s outfits are actually easy to emulate and pull off (without a styling team).

So in celebration of her birthday (happy birthday Zoe!), we’ve selected four looks and show you how to recreate at home. These looks incorporate different visual elements that we can draw different style inspiration and tips

Scroll on to find out more.

Clockwise from top left: Gucci checked wool-blend and terry turtleneck sweater, US$1,380; Prada shell cap, US$340; Deitas nina silk-satin midi skirt, US$605; Fendi logo-print leather and rubber sneakers, US$1,141, all from Net-a-Porter

Dressing warmly and being stylish might not always go hand-in-hand, but this jumper and skirt combination worn by Zoe when she was on holiday in Japan last December proved otherwise. The jumper provides insulation while the sneakers was a comfy choice to complement all the walking one would do on holiday.

To recreate the look, we’ve chosen a tri-coloured sweater and sneakers from Gucci and Fendi respectively, and paired the look with a black Deitas skirt and Prada cap.  If you need to turn the look down a notch to make it wearable for work, you can swap out the jumper for a thinner material, layer the jumper over a slip dress or go with a simpler jumper design or colour.

Clockwise from top left: Mango check structured blazer, $99; Zara minimal collection ribbed sweater, $29.90; Zara chain print skinny trousers, $39.90; Mansur Gavriel calf mini lady bag, US$1,650

Going print on print as per the fall/winter 2018 trend can be daunting but following Zoe’s outfit that she wore to the launch of Burberry’s conservatory at Marina Bay Sands, you can pull off the look by incorporating a solid coloured piece into the ensemble and use it to anchor the ensemble.

For our picks, the yellow chains on the Zara pants complements the yellow checkered blazer while the red chains pair in tonality with the oxblood sleeveless turtleneck top from Zara. The neutral toned Mansur Gavriel bag on the other hand, anchors the print/print look and keeps the look from getting too garish.

Clockwise from top: Alexander McQueen cape-effect wool-blend crepe mini dress, US$2,712 from Net-a-Porter; Laura Lombardi fede gold-tone ring, US$100 from Net-a-Porter; Gianvito Rossi 105mm plexi & suede pumps, $1,150 from Luisaviaroma; Panthere de Cartier bracelet yellow gold, tsavorite garnets, onyx, $14,400

While red and golds are perfect for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, this colour combination is not easy to pull off. Why? Because it can very easily look loud and OTT.

Like Zoe, we have kept the red tones to a minimal and stuck with the similar colour families of gold/orange/red. In addition. the cape-effect on the McQueen dress adds a different silhouette to the regular knee-length dress while the plexi and suede heels from Gianvito Rossi are a good transition into the plastic footwear trend

Clockwise from top: Zara striped tunic, $49.90; H&M small shoulder bag, $27.95; Topshop hunt leather ankle boots, $179; Alaia laser-cut leather waist belt, US$1,390 from Net-a-Porter

Stripes are a perennial favourite and a wardrobe staple, and like Zoe’s look here, you can easily style them with accessories to break up the monotony of the pattern and insert other visual elements.

We’ve chosen a chunky black statement belt from Alaia to break the red stripes of the Zara shirt dress and the belt has an added benefit of creating an hourglass silhouette. The red bag from H&M adds a pop of solid colour and keeps in theme with the colour of the dress. The boots finally, gives a punk rock edge to the preppy dress.
