SEA Games: Female athletes who did Singapore proud
Our national athletes showed us what good sportsmanship is at the 30th SEA Games. Here are the sportswomen you should know about

Not a stranger to the competitive rink, the 21-year-old won a silver at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Games. At the 30th SEA Games last week, the skater scored an overall of 152.67 points and took home the gold medal.

Jiu-jitsu athlete Constance Lien, 20, clinched the gold medal at the recent SEA games in the Philippines after she beat her Vietnamese opponent in the women's ne-waza Under-62 kg final.
Lien, who made a switch in sports from swimming to jiu-jitsu, has been the athlete to watch after an impressive debut at the Asian Games last year, where she won a silver in the same category, an achievement that earned her The Straits Times Star of the Month accolade. In May, she was crowned world champion at the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu World Championships, reported The Straits Times.
Lien says that she is looking forward to competing in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in 2020 as a purple belt with the help and support of her Evolve MMA coach, Teco Shinzato, teammates and association.

When Gong Qianyun fended off the challenge of nine other players to emerge top of the women's rapid chess category on 3 Dec, she became the first Singaporean to become a chess champion at the SEA Games.

20-year-old Rachel Teo and her dance partner, Jerome Teo, waltzed their way into the history books as the first Singaporean medallists at a SEA Games dancesport event.
The young dancers received a bronze in the standard waltz, behind Philippines' Mark Jayson Gayon and Mary Joy Renigen and Vietnam's Vu Hoang Anh Minh and Nguyen Troung Xuan.
Shortly after, they claimed another bronze medal in the standard Viennese waltz. Not done with their wins, the duo (also siblings) got a silver medal in the standard slow foxtrot behind the Filipino pair.

The 18-year-old braved an ankle sprain and beat out teammate Michelle Wong for the Gold medal. The pair battled each other and Amita emerged victorious after trailing 9 - 10.

Nothing feels better than winning a gold for a sport that is making its debut at the SEA Games. The women’s team fought for their win and displayed tactical skills that pushed them to the top.

20-year-old Cheyenne Goh is Singapore’s gold star. Not only is she Singapore’s first Winter Olympian, but she also became the nation’s first Games champion in speed skating.
The speed skater snagged the gold medal in the women’s 500m and beat out Malaysians Dione Tan and Anja Chong.

It was a gold rush for the Quah siblings at the 30th SEA Games.The two sisters clinched a gold medal each - Jing Wen won the women’s 200m butterfly and Ting Wen, the women’s 100m freestyle.
Their brother, Quah Zheng Wen, added to the bag when he took home two gold medals.

The feisty fencer bagged the long-awaited gold medal for the women’s epee final. This is the first gold medal for Singapore in the event ever since 1989.

Lawn bowlers Goh Quee Kee, Shermeen Lim and Lim Poh Eng brought the first gold for Singapore when they triumphed the Fillipino team in the women’s triples event.
