Rock your weekend brunch outfit with #OOTD inspo from the hottest Asian celebs
Go ahead and enjoy your wicked weekend – we’ve got your wardrobe covered

Yet another weekend is fast approaching (yay!), and many of us are properly eagerly anticipating that chill brunch or movie date. How to look on point when you’re out and about is always the question – take a leaf out of these celebs’ books, pronto.
The best way to combat our unforgiving weather is to go with a breezy shirt-and-shorts combo. A matching set solves the problem of coordinating separate pieces, especially when you just want to relax on a weekend. It’ll be wise to go for a loose fit too, so you can go ahead and eat to your heart’s content. Throw on your favourite pair of white sneakers because comfort is key, and add a choker to amp up the feminine factor of the “boyish” getup.

If you don’t want to be fussing around with an off-shoulder top, you can still show some skin with cut-outs. Carrie Wong cleverly pairs her top with a bandana scarf to add a dose of attitude, and keeps things simple with black pants and sleek boots. This colour contrast brings attention to the upper half of her body while bringing the look together for a cohesive but not matchy-matchy ensemble.

The pyjama shirt is one of our top picks for a weekend ensemble. The laidback vibe is perfect for when you’re off duty, yet the chiffon or silk elevates it from the usual sleepwear. Pairing with jeans would be the obvious choice for that casual chic look. Jeanette Aw completes her no-frills #OOTD with a high bun and a striking red lippie – way to shout “I’m effortlessly chic like that”.

Channel preppy chic by layering a collared blouse under a dress – this neutral combination is your best bet. You can also play around with colours and prints if you’re feeling adventurous; for instance, a polka-dot blouse with a silver number. An effortless half bun would add a playful touch to the dainty outfit.

The weekend should always call for a celebratory pop of colour, and we love how Jesseca Liu matches her orange dress with a cute egg-print cap. Then there’s the inspired choice of her jacket, which provides an interesting contrast without coming across as overly jarring. If the idea of wearing a jacket doesn’t sit well with you, you can always tie a shirt around your waist to keep cool and switch things up.

Outside the confines of the office, you can proudly show off your decolletage (and curves) with a fitting off-shoulder top. Match it with a pleated skirt to balance the look with some volume. Throw a statement sparkly bag into the mix and you’re all set with a dressy outfit that easily takes you from brunch to concert.

There’s no hard and fast rule when it comes to colour-blocking – what matters is you’re happy with what you’re wearing. A surefire way to make heads turn is to wear a bold-coloured bottom (Remember that pair of bright green pants collecting dust in your wardrobe?) and put on some chic mules in the same shade, so you don’t look too loud. Sometimes, sieving through your closet by colour can help you to think out of the box when piecing together an outfit.

Oh yes, we’re always up for a cosy-meets-glam #OOTD. Nothing beats a roomy pullover, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look polished – simply opt for pointy heels and a structured bag. Tie it all together quite literally with a lovely lightweight scarf, which immediately lends sophistication to the getup. Adding a scarf to your handbag is a wonderful idea if you’re hesitant about wearing it around your neck.

Instead of denim overalls, choose something rendered in white for a change, and go with a top with interesting details to make your outfit pop. Julie Tan’s top has studs at the neckline, so she doesn’t need to accessorise with a necklace. Don’t forget those shades, which you can casually wear on top of your head to visually lengthen your face and make it look slimmer.

Weekends are for us to unleash our inner child, so it’s time to bring out your favourite graphic tee, and throw on your trusty denim jacket. As for the bottom, ripped jeans are a must in any self-respecting fashionista’s weekend wardrobe. We’re digging how Jolin Tsai teams hers with thigh-high pink boots so they peep through the holes. Alternatively, you can rock the recent (and rather risque!) trend of wearing fishnet tights underneath.
