In the last few years, many department stores in Singapore have come and gone.
But crowd favourite Takashimaya Department Store has remained the ultimate go-to for all our shopping and dining needs. The retail scene stalwart isn’t resting on its laurels though.
Shoppers can now look forward to a revamped Level 3, Ladies’ Fashion Contemporary Zone. It houses a hipster cafe and a retail enclave targeted at those from their mid-twenties who love artisanal handicrafts, lifestyle accessories, fashion apparel and jewellery, and sustainable beauty brands.
We’ve listed it all down here (including some of our personal faves) for your shopping and dining convenience.
You’ve heard of multilabel boutiques. Now, say bon appetit to Wanderlust Café, a multilabel café with a smorgasbord of F&B brands to whet your appetite in between your shopping sprees. Tuck into French pastries including a very Instagramable Watermelon Strawberry Cake by popular dessert shop Cream & Custard, enjoy a cup of coffee by Affogato Bar, sip on the fine teas by homegrown brand Gifel or indulge in the healthy juices from Gorilla Press.
What we love: For a heartier meal, order the tartines made in-house with the most unusual toppings like Truffle Egg Mayo, Cold Cuts with Tete de Moine cheese rosettes and freshly made guacamole.
Once you’ve filled up your tummy, check out Wanderlust Shoppe. Café’s in-house retail section of interesting fashion and lifestyle brands.
What we love: Homegrown brand Innerfyre is known for a wide variety of perfumes, room sprays and essential oils but for a me-time gift with a difference, the popular coconut and rice bran wax Affirmation Candles come with quirky names like “I Am Enough” and “I Am Strong” as well as a crystal and their own curated Spotify playlists.
Whether you believe in the rejuvenating powers of crystals or just love their natural beauty, whimsical brand Candy Mountain has a hand-selected range of one-of-a-kind pieces as well as its signature Candy Bag. The latter comprises curated pieces to help you meet your life goals, from finding that special someone to having less electromagnetic smog in your living space.
What we love: Candy Mountain's crystals make perfect home and office decor pieces. Pick from the minimalist and abstract crystal tower shapes or those that come in cute animal forms.
Call it the best of both worlds. The Summer House uses traditional craft techniques from India to create timeless and impeccably tailored clothing. Clothes are made in its in-house studio with high quality, responsibly made and long-lasting fabrics like handwoven, organic ethical Tencel or regenerated nylon.
What we love: The brand’s breezy, flowy dresses are just the thing for our Singapore climate. There’s a silhouette for every body shape or dress code: think work-appropriate shirt dresses, avantgarde trapeze cuts for weekend brunches and caftan styles that will make you want to book a resort vacay right away.
