Located in Orchard Central, the new Uniqlo flagship store is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and will feature store exclusives as well as a brand new look for the popular Japanese high street fashion brand. The flagship store will span three levels and fans of the brand can expect a wider range of products alongside unique displays including a total of 350 in-store mannequins which matches the Uniqlo Ginza global flagship store in Tokyo.
The new store concept of ‘U+S and The World’ was taken from the words ‘Uniqlo’ and ‘Singapore’ as well as the company’s intention to serve as a bridge between Singapore and the rest of the world.
“With its vibrant creative scene, Singapore is the ideal location for us to showcase our LifeWear concept through the eyes of the local community,” said Uniqlo Southeast Asia chief executive Mr Taku Morikawa.
Here are 6 things to look for at the new Singapore flagship store:
1. CASHMERE LINE
The brand will be bringing in cashmere apparel to Singapore and it will be exclusive to the Orchard Central flagship store only. Uniqlo intends to make cashmere wear “accessible for everyone by offering it at an affordable price”. The pieces are made of 100 per cent high-grade cashmere wool. Prices start at $129.90 for a cashmere turtleneck sweater for ladies.
2. UNIQLO F/W16 COLLECTION COLLABORATION
Another clothing line that will be available exclusively at Orchard Central is a collaboration with French fashion icon Ines De La Fressange. It will be available in stores as well as online on Sept 9. The second batch of pieces from the collection will be released on October 21.
3. DEDICATED UT CORNER
A first in Southeast Asia, there will be a dedicated Uniqlo T-shirt (UT) corner on the first floor that will showcase exclusive UT designs drawn from popular collaborations such as Olympia Le-Tan and Bruno Munari. Fans of musician and style icon Pharrell Williams will be pleased to know that his collection ‘i am OTHER’ will also be available at the flagship store. The new Disney Collection City Logo UTs will feature Mickey Mouse with the iconic Merlion and will be launched on the opening day of the Orchard Central flagship store. The design was created to celebrate the brand’s first global flagship store opening in Southeast Asia in Singapore and will also be available for purchase at other Uniqlo stores in the country.
4. NEW UNIQLO T-SHIRT DESIGNS
Available for the first time in Singapore, there will be an assortment of selected designs from the following UT collections: OMIYAGE, SPRZ NY and Bruno Munari (for guys) and BarbaPAPA graphic, BONNE MAISON, Almedahls and Olympia Le-Tan (for girls).
5. FULL RANGE OF THE LIFEWEAR LINE
The flagship store will showcase the brand’s full assortment of its LifeWear clothing range, featuring items that are designed to suit various occasions, from work wear to sports attire.
6. NEW INTERIOR DESIGN & ROTATING MANNEQUINS
Iconic rotating mannequins will be an integral part of Uniqlo Orchard Central, as well as close to 300 digital displays, the largest number anywhere in the Uniqlo world, and a total of 350 in-store mannequins, the latter matching the same number as at the Uniqlo Ginza Global Flagship Store in Tokyo. It is the first Uniqlo store in the world to incorporate a switchable film function on the glass facade facing Orchard Road.
