Proposal from the skies

1/12

"While travelling in Melbourne two years ago, Dylan surprised me with the proposal.

We had planned to go skydiving as it was on both our bucket lists. Dylan coordinated the entire thing with the skydiving company before our trip.

He made sure I went first, and as I was approaching the landing point, I saw a big banner with the words “Will you marry me?”.

Right after I landed, Dylan went down on one knee to propose and I said yes. We celebrated with champagne right there and then; the moment felt so surreal.

Thanks to the skydiving proposal, we decided on a sky-themed wedding."

With a balloon ring!

2/12

"For the proposal, I booked That Spare Room at The Fabulous Baker Boy, decorated it with our pictures and fairy lights, and made a video.

I had Mun Ching’s friends invite her to dinner at the restaurant, and halfway through, the staff passed her a card instructing her to enter the room."

Mun Ching says: “There was a huge box in the room and when Vincent opened it, a huge balloon in the shape of a ring popped out. I didn’t want an engagement ring so he proposed with that balloon instead – so adorable!"

Along a beautiful Italian beach

3/12

"Our proposal happened while we were in Sardinia, Italy – Luca’s hometown – for his cousin’s wedding.

Luca suggested taking a ride out to Chia, a coastal village in southern Sardinia that was a couple of hours away.

It had a beautiful beach, and we were strolling along the shoreline when he suddenly bent down and asked me to marry him. It was so surreal."

Handwritten with love in Jeju

4/12

"Vincent popped the question with a handwritten letter at our cute and cosy Airbnb in Jeju. It was really sweet and funny at the same time!

Later on, he told me that his initial plan had been to propose in a canola field, but all those bright yellow flowers were wilted when we were there (laughs)."

An unbreakable vow

5/12

"Shoban proposed to me at Terrace Garden, one of my favourite places Singapore.

He prepared a scrapbook of our memories that was beautifully aligned with the chapters and quotations in Harry Potter, and the engagement ring was tied to middle of the book, under the chapter called the “Unbreakable Vow”.

As a Harry Potter fanatic, that was really amazing. Shoban also booked a hotel room that night, where I was surprised by a small party with all our closest family and friends."

Sweeter than expected

6/12

"Our proposal turned out to be sweeter than I had imagined, because we got to share it with the people dearest to us. Oliver had the church grotto beautifully decorated with lights and flowers, and I was so surprised.

He wrote me a letter and sang I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman before going down on one knee.

After being so moved by his thoughtful and romantic gestures, I said yes, of course! Turns out, our family and friends were in hiding all along and had seen the whole thing. We celebrated with a small party after."

"Please excuse us for a moment"

7/12

"After dating for nine years, we were ready to settle down and take our relationship to the next level. I chose to propose to Claire on her birthday, and prepared a simple set-up in one of the rooms of The Fullerton Bay Hotel, alongside our close friends and family. They waited outside on the hotel room's balcony, and burst in the moment she said yes.

While I hired a violinist to play in the background as I read my proposal speech to Claire, we ended up asking him to excuse himself from the room less than a minute into the proposal as we felt awkward in his presence! That was quite hilarious."

Amidst floating flowers

8/12

"Terence proposed to me during our anniversary getaway at Phuket.

He was acting odd throughout the trip and I realised why on our second night there, when I walked into our villa after dinner and saw the words “Will you marry me?” floating in the flower-filled pool."

Christmas Eve in Tokyo

9/12

"I proposed on Christmas Eve in one of Tokyo’s picturesque alleyways.

We’d fallen in love with these passages on an earlier trip. I couldn’t have picked a better spot at which to ask Eileen to marry me,” says Calvin."

In the waters of Boracay

10/12

"Our proposal happened during our vacation in Boracay. I coordinated everything with a travel agent before we flew over. We went helmet diving on the second day, and that was when I decided to pop the question.

The ring was hidden in a treasure chest, which our diving instructor led us to. When we got to the chest, I took the ring out and went down on one knee. Maggie was so surprised!"

"While we were travelling in Austria last year, Timothy surprised me by proposing on a pier overlooking the beautiful Lake Traunsee as the sun was setting.

It was an unforgettable moment for us."

On a bridge in Venice

12/12

"Our proposal happened in Venice. Mark wanted to do it at dusk on our first day there, but I was sick and that completely ruined his plans.

Instead, he got down on one knee the next morning while we were on a picturesque bridge over a tiny canal and I couldn't imagine it any other way."
