If you have eczema or very sensitised skin, you tend to be more wary of trying new cosmetics products,  and may even skip facial treatments altogether. Well I'm here to inform you that you can still get yor face pampered by facialists without worrying you would get a skin reaction. I have mild eczema and highly reactive skin (just scratch my skin, and a red line appears and stays there for a few minutes), and here  are three facials  that I have tried and loved.

Get Instantly Glowing Skin

1/3

Go Glow Facial, $267.50 (60min)

The Sloane Spa, #03-14A Ion Orchard, tel: 6509-8108, www.sloanespa.com

WHAT The facial starts with a microdermabrasion scrub to eliminate dead skin cells and debris. It follows with an oxygen mask to revive dull skin.

Another facial mask is then used, this time to nourish skin with antioxidants. To finish, a blend of brightening and repairing serums is applied over the skin.

VERDICT “My dehydrated skin felt more supple and firmer after the facial. Enlarged pores looked less obvious and my skin was seriously glowing!”

Pamper Sensitive Skin

2/3

Sensi-bel Skin Restoration Treatment, $268 (90min)

Annabelle Skin, #02-42 The Adelphi, tel: 6336-8975

WHAT This calming facial is said to strengthen and nourish the skin. Using products from German skincare brand Dr.Belter Cosmetic, it comprises a thorough, gentle cleansing with a soap- and oil-free cleanser, a toner and an enzyme peel mask.

Once the peel mask was removed, a treatment mask containing organic oils, like argan and olive, was applied. I was then treated to a facial massage with balm to boost microcirculation.

Next, a soothing anti-irritation ampoule was slathered on.Then the therapist applied a peel-off mask that purportedly deeply hydrates the face, eye area and neck, and left it on for 20min. Once it came off, the moisturiser went on, and was followed by sunscreen since the sun was still up.

VERDICT “I have eczema, and my skin typically gets red and itchy on and off throughout the day. I liked that none of the products irritated it – not even the peeling mask.

The whole session was very comfortable, and I loved the relaxing facial massage. Even better, there was no sign of redness after the facial, and my complexion was noticeably clearer, brighter, firmer and smoother.”

Cleanse and Lift

3/3

Green Tea and Ginger Facial, $247.17 (60min)

The Sloane Clinic, #01-66 Chip Bee Gardens, tel: 6471-1108; #03-14A Ion Orchard, tel: 6509-8108; #03-01 Chevron House, tel: 6533-2522, www.sloaneclinic.com

WHAT Designed for dehydrated, easily irritated skin, this organic facial helps to clear out clogged pores and revive radiance.

The facial uses Epicuren skincare products and begins with a soothing foam cleanse and scrub, followed by a Green Tea and Ginger Sea Enzyme Mask to help purify skin.

The mask dries after 10 minutes, and the therapist massages aloe vera gel over it to moisten it before wiping it off with a warm towel. A moisturising protein mist is then spritzed over before the skin-brightening Enzyme Concentrate is applied.

For the following 10 minutes, your face is snugly covered with a warm Silver Ion Mask. The ions are said to magnify the effectiveness of skincare products applied. After the mask is removed, two moisturisers and sunscreen are applied to complete the facial.

VERDICT “The products were very gentle and didn’t irritate my skin, which looked clear and radiant after the facial. There was no hint of redness or dryness, and my face looked lifted.”
