"Alvin's the geekier one," says Wei Ying, "but I grew to love Star Wars more because of him. In fact, it was clear from the start that at least one of our celebrations would have a Star Wars theme."

The couple, who first met online at OkCupid,  had two celebrations, a casual reception with friends at The Halia, and a more traditonal banquet celebration with their family at Regent Singapore.

"We met online at Ok Cupid. At that time, Wei Ying's profile mentioned that she was contemplating doing a Master's in speech therapy. I introduced myself by saying that although I didn't know much about this field, my friend's wife was a speech therapist. That introduction earned me a response and we hit it off right away," Alvin shares.

The place cards for the bride's guests had the Rebellion symbol, while the groom's guests had the Empire symbol - and were all designed by Alvin's sister Alexa, who designs and crafts over at Wood and Lead.

"I proposed on a helicopter ride over Sydney, where we'd spent most of our dating years", says Alvin.

"In order to smuggle the engagement ring on board without her noticing, I made a flat case out of a small notebook and hid the ring inside. Wei Ying was genuinely surprised when I took it out mid-flight, and took a moment to gather herself before saying yes."

"We invited guests to come in smart-casual wear with some hint of their favourite Star Wars character and we were pleasantly surpirsed by the number of people who dressed up - adults and kids alike!"

"I was quite surprised by Wei Ying during our speeches. Having seen and vetted them earlier, I was quite surprised when she started to cry when she was delivering hers," says Alvin.

"I went with our florist, who happened to be one of the groomsmen, to the wholesale florist to pick out the flowers I liked before leaving him to exercise his own discretion as to the arrangement.

Inparticular, I liked the sea holly a lot and told him to ensure that it has a place in the bridal bouquet," shares Wei Ying.
