While political pundits are debating the wave of changes Donald Trump might bring even as he’s poised to move into the White House as the 45th president of the United States, we’re also keeping a close watch on something else: The sartorial choices of Melania Trump as she assumes her new role as the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS). 

It’s not uncommon for First Ladies to receive significant attention from the press for their style choices; Jackie Kennedy and Michelle Obama, for one, will always have a place in the fashion and history books on account of their impeccable dressing. 

Objectively speaking, the Slovenian former model has always had her pulse on provocative fashion. Prior to crafting her future First Lady style, she favoured plunging necklines, lingerie-inspired styles and plenty of figure-skimming numbers. 

She has since upped the ante on sophistication and elegance in the past year or so, opting for chic sheath dresses, silk jumpsuits and understated gowns. If these are any indication, we should be expecting plenty of sleek, smart and sophisticated pairings in her new role next year.
