You know you’ve reached star status when you’re invited to have a dinner with Mona Lisa. Yes, that famous Mona Lisa portrait by artist Leonardo da Vinci. Such was the case for some of the fashion and Hollywood’s finest including Fan Bingbing, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Aniston, Natalia Vodianova, Jennifer Connelly, Léa Seydoux, Michelle Williams, Miranda Kerr and more.
These A-listers descended at The Louvre’s Salle des Etats hall, otherwise known as the residence of the Mona Lisa painting, for a dinner last evening. Together, they celebrated the unveiling of Louis Vuitton’s latest collaboration with American contemporary artist Jeff Koons. The 62-year-old artist joins the French fashion house’s list of high profile artist partnerships that include the likes of Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince and Yayoi Kusama.
The dinner venue was a fitting one, especially when this collection (titled Masters collection) saw Koons translating his long-standing ‘Gazing Ball’ paintings into a new Louis Vuitton collection. His ‘Gazing Ball’ paintings are reproductions of iconic works by some of the world famous artists, da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Fragonard and Van Gogh.
All these have been reproduced in Louis Vuitton’s handbags, scarves, bag charms and small leather goods. The Masters collection, which consists of 51 pieces in total, is now available at Louis Vuitton Marina Bay Sands, Ngee Ann City and ION Orchard. So, grab yours now because seriously, what’s better than owning your favourite Louis Vuitton design AND an artwork by a prominent artist?
