Why we love a good kaftan and where to get one from under $20

Airy and easy, this billowy style is the antithesis of a fitted dress - what's not to love?

We mean it when we say that the kaftan is a staple. From the lavish style of 17th century Ottoman sultans, to the 1960s bohemian wave, and today's makcik at the coffeeshop, the kaftan has stood the test of time. While it might have a become a catchall phrase for any loose-fitting and drapey dress, we're leaning towards full-sleeved, floor length and deep-v neckline iterations, just like what we've seen on the SS '20 runways of brands like Tory Burch and Etro.

The best part about the kaftan? We love how easy it is to dress up or down. Gladiator sandals and tousled hair for a weekend date, or a headscarf and layered jewellery for a formal dinner. So here are some of our favourite kaftan looks from SS '20 and where to get similar pieces from under $20.
