Local Flavour

Archery is the national sport of Bhutan, and the men are seeing more women chasing the dream to become a national archer alongside them. The women's traditional dress includes a Kira, an ankle-length dress accompanied by a light outer jacket known as a Tego. The Rachu, usually woven out of raw silk and embroidered with rich patterns goes over the shoulders.

Jesseca insisted on this shot at Wangdicholing Palace that sits next door to Amankora Bumthang Lodge. It was the first palace (1857) in Bhutan that was not desiged as a fortress. It was also the summer residence of the first and second kings. At the time of writing, work was going on to restore the glory of this beautiful building.
