You need a coat, we have the shopping tips!

You have your plane tickets, you’ve sussed out the best place to stay and now, you have to think about what to wear. The best advice from us? Make sure it’s fashionable and functional.
It’s seasonally inevitable since we get 12 months of hot tropical weather and when December rolls around, we immediately want to book the next flight out to a country with a colder climate. But getting dressed for the winter season is hard. Especially hard when you have to find the “perfect winter jacket” and what you’d be looking for is the equivalent to a car – 1) you don’t have to constantly replace it and 2) you can actually stash your items in it.
Maje’s (a French bohemian fashion label worn by celebrities like Alexa Chung) latest collaboration with Schott (an American outdoor clothing label founded in 1913) is the best of both worlds – you get great outerwear that weathers the weather, keeps you warm and makes you feel and look good.

A good trench coat protects against the weather, keeps you warm and of course, has to make a strong style statement. This one takes it up a notch with bomber jacket sleeves that are insulated to keep you toasty and if you’re thinking of flaunting thigh-high boots, there are zips on the side for you to do so.

Ever since Gucci made the bomber jacket the it-jacket to have, every brand has released their own iteration be it with appliques, embellishments or even with sequins.
It’s time to take it down a notch and purchase this one. Why? Schott was the first company to produce a bomber jacket used by the US Air Force so you know you’re getting the crème of the crop of what a good bomber jacket is.
Why again? It comes with orange lining inside that’s reversible. More bang for your buck!

Every season, there’ll be at least one designer who does the military trend.
Why? It makes everybody look a little tougher, it’s oddly democratic (it's hard not to be able to pull off a military something – be it a sweater, parka or pants) and you’ll have plenty of options to choose from high street to high luxe. This sweater is military (shoulder patches? Check!) meets feminine (cropped and comfortable? Check!).

Last season, we had T-shirts that promoted feminism and other political issues. This season, we just want to wear T-shirts that are as relaxed as we should be for the holiday season. This particular one is made of 100% cotton and is garment dyed and enzyme washed to prevent shrinkage. The subtle logo is bang on trend too – statement making without it wearing you and who wouldn’t want that?

We know, we know. $625 for a wool dress? Why not a high-street option? Well, a great wardrobe starts with great basics that works even with your wackiest accessories and this dress fits the bill.
It’s a flattering shade of white (last we checked, nobody looks bad in it), its short length allows you to wear it as a sweater (simply tuck it into jeans) and the wool-blend doesn’t stretch even with repeated wear.

If there was a varsity jacket 2.0 (prep-power seems a little dated, no?) that you’d wear over and over again each time you leave for a colder climate, this would be it. Its caramel colour pairs well with neutrals (and red, blue, green, purple, pinks, etc) and its sleeves are in soft sheep’s wool. Just be wary of your boyfriend – this jacket’s oversized silhouette may look as good on him as it does on you.
