She played muse to Karl Lagerfeld in the eighties and has penned her style tips in Parisian Chic: A Style Guide.

Yet French style icon Ines de la Fressange has a very simple shopping habit that we can all relate to: the joy of lunchtime shopping, at Uniqlo no less.

“I often go to Uniqlo during my lunch break to get a little respite from work, and end up buying something as a reward for myself,” says the French fashion star, who has, as you would imagine, teamed up with this Japanese fast fashion brand for a collaborative collection.

The Ines de la Fressange for Uniqlo collection makes its Singapore debut on March 28, 2014 with shirt dresses, chambray tops and more easy-to-wear pieces inspired by the style icon’s love of effortless style.

“Marriages between different cultures are always interesting … So I thought my collaboration with Uniqlo would be an interesting marriage,” teases De La Fressange, in a Uniqlo video.

Her Uniqlo collaboration is split into four lines, to be launched in staggered batches from March 28 to the end of May 2014, at selected stores in Singapore; shop for the full range here at Uniqlo 313@Somerset and Uniqlo Suntec City.

Come the end of this month, you’ll find the “Petite Parisienne” pieces, which features style staples with surprising details like floral motifs hidden on the underside of the sleeves, as well as the “Bleu, Blanc, Parisienne” line that is inspired by the French national colours of blue, white and red.

Later in May, expect comfy knits and wrap dresses that will make up the “Note Parisienne” line and yoga-friendly styles in the “Souffle de Parisenne” designs.

You’ll also discover a touch of red on selected Ines de la Fressange-inspired designs, meant to symbolise the star’s Legion of Honour, awarded to her by the French government.

This Uniqlo collection is priced affordably too. Prices start from $14.90 for a cotton tee to $149.90 for a zip parka.

To aid your upcoming Uniqlo shopping spree, we’ve picked out seven of the style must-haves to acing Ines de la Fressange’s sense of French chic — check out our gallery for more details.
