“You can celebrate a lot with just a little, and that goes a long way,” declared Heron Preston. The American designer was speaking during a virtual press presentation with the regional press to introduce his sophomore outing designing and consulting for Calvin Klein.

The collection which just dropped in stores islandwide and online demonstrates this familiar maxim that Calvin Klein himself championed during the heyday of American sportswear/minimalism in the ’90s. Flash forward to Fall/Winter 2021 and Preston is picking up from where he left off during his debut with Calvin Klein – refining and elevating our wardrobe essentials.

Fun fact: Each piece of underwear or shirt from the collection took about seven rounds of fittings to perfect.

Taking references from New York’s streetwear scene and the stripped back and sultry DNA of the storied American house, Preston described this season’s repertoire of womenswear, menswear, gender-neutral apparel and undergarments as “tailored for a future-fit”.

In the mix are updated denim styles, a new pair of briefs featuring thin waistbands adapted from the first briefs the brand released, an entire knit range and what Preston personally considers his essential: the puffer jacket. All of these designs are decked out in subtle bar tacks and key details that come in the signature Sunflower orange hue from Preston’s eponymous label.

Honing in on inclusive and purposeful fashion, this genderless flannel shirt jacket makes for a great layering option or as an oversized piece to wear on its own.

Beyond the “overstated simplicity” of each garment, sustainability is undoubtedly a core consideration for Preston who incorporated eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester and recycled nylon in a big way for this new gig.

When sustainable materials were not used, Preston was conscientious about the source and origins of materials like cotton Fench terry used in a pair of straight-leg joggers or the waffle thermal knits used in bralettes, cropped tops and leggings.

Guess what? These jeans are made from recycled plastic bottles.

Needless to say, it’s easy to be obsessed with this new range and we’ve caught stars like Squid Game actress HoYeon Jung rocking some of the outfits on the ‘Gram. For a quick peek at what to expect in stores, keep on scrolling.
