Golden Goose Deluxe Brand at Pedder on Scotts

1/10

Distressed, pre-loved, scuffed up - whatever you wish to call them - Golden Goose Deluxe Brand's (GGDB) sneakers are the perfect luxury item for your casual encounters. The trendy brand, which is quintessentially known as Italy's version of Converse, has built its cult label upon purveying scuffed-up sneakers deliberately pre-beaten up with "wear and tear". Offering sneakers in crinkled gold leather, painterly worn-in whites and purposefully placed torn and tatters, GGDB hits it where it counts with subversive luxury casual wear.

And now, you’ll be able to get a feel of these products for yourself. GGDB’s first brick-and-mortar in Southeast Asia will reside in Pedder on Scotts, carrying a bevy of their signature sneakers, accessories and a selection of women’s ready-to-wear from their FW17 collection. Without further ado, here are our top picks from the pop-up store you need to check out.

Golden Goose Deluxe Brand at Pedder on Scotts, available now and open from 10am to 9pm daily

Knit sweater

2/10

The smart money's on this bright fuchsia sweater making it onto everyone’s holiday wish list this year. It looks super snug; fitting for the winter holidays. It’s definitive winning trait is its oversized, stretched out sleeves. That, alongside distressed knit detailings along the shoulder and the ruched-up mock neck, renders this end-year staple as a must-have in our books.

Fuchsia Malia Top, $850

Graphic T-shirt

3/10

You can never go wrong with a classic white tee. Here’s where GGDB gets it; taking the timeless number and placing a stamp of its signature right on it with a delightful retro twist.

Deluxe Printed Tee, $260

Track pants with distressed seams

4/10

Straight-cut culottes in the form of easy-on-the-waist track pants…. Cue the swooning from us lazy girls. Featuring overturned seams with frayed, undone hems, these pants work exactly like denim jeans; they’ll go well with everything. We think this item is as versatile as you can get with the GGDB pop-up; the rest of the items make more of statement pieces than they do rotatable numbers.

Sophie Pants, $810

Checkered cap

5/10

Scottish checks see a modern resurgence with this checkered 6-panel cap with strokes of electric blue and mahogany. The word Deluxe is gilded and pressed front and center, brandishing the brand name in the most stylish way possible.

Giusy Cap, $290

Coat with patterned lining

6/10

Surprise, surprise. On the literal flip side of this classic black fleece coat is an unexpected twist; vintage stamps with various landmarks across the world take the stage on the nut-brown inner lining.

Nina Wool Coat, $2,160

High-top sneakers

7/10

GGDB took the de rigeur high-top, gave it a greyed-out silver makeover, and then proceeded to give it the “aged” treatment with worn-out white leather finishing. This number stands out from the norm without looking too garish; the optimum combo we need for a trusty, good pair of shoes that’ll last us through the coming seasons without falling out of favour.

Dripping gel sole sneakers

8/10

We had to do a double take with this one. A gel-like coating sits atop the toe cap and seems to be dripping down from the sole; a unique design like no other. Don’t worry though, the liquid-y looking substance isn’t as frail as it appears to be; it holds its shape well like a flexible piece of plastic. Next to the pristine all-white leather body and a festive season-appropriate glitter tongue, this one-of-a-kind feature pulls off slightly peculiar — and we’re all for it.

V Star Sneakers, $820

Suede sneakers

9/10

A striking red heel notch, a space grey cut-out in the shape of a star, 3 punched holes, and the words GGDB/SSTAR gilded in minute lettering. These are the details which make this iconic Superstar sneaker. Oh and of course, the grey ‘stains’ which define these distressed sneakers. Finally, this is one white shoe you can wear out without the fear of it getting dirty.

Superstar in white and red, $600

Neon sneakers

10/10

The idea of fluorescent yellow kicks may send some eyebrows raising, but you won’t fear looking as though you’re directing traffic with these babies. Featuring a muted tan eye stay, GGDB's signature star motif in a sleek matte black and matching black laces, these neon Superstar sneakers are surprisingly wearable and chic. To offset the exuberance of the bright yellow, balance this with a vivid coloured hat and opt for black or neutral hued garments.

Superstar in yellow, $640
