Emmy Rossum weds in a gorgeous New York wedding bash

The actress partied it up in her custom Carolina Herrera gown with close celebrity friends and lots of dancing.

Actress Emmy Rossum, 30, married in this beautiful wedding ceremony with her beau, director Sam Esmail, 39, last Sunday on May 28.

After two years of dating, Esmail proposed to Rossum with a vintage Chaumet engagement ring and kept their wedding plans mostly under wrap.

Rossum proved to completely laid-back about her wedding preparations, leaving it up to her wedding planners to handle the celebration.

“This is the one time in my life that I’m actually not that focused on details”, said the bride to E! news.

The couple said their vows at Central Synagogue in New York in front of guests including Robert Downey Jr., Wiliam H.Macy, Hilary Swank and more.

It was followed up by dinner at the Guggenheim Museum, lots of dancing, fun photobooth moments and a four-tiered wedding cake.

Sounds like all the right ingredients to a fun wedding celebration.

A gorgeously lavish huppah (floral alter) by Raul Avila, created the most sensational scene at the couple’s traditional Jewish ceremony where they said their vows and exchanged wedding bands before breaking the glass at the end of the ceremony.

Custom Carolina Herrera wedding gown

“As soon as I got engaged, I immediately knew that I wanted Mrs. Herrera to make my wedding dress”, the actress told Vogue.

The result was a stunning, custom off-the-shoulder gown in a traditional silhouette, embellished beading, a full train and a fabric buttons that ran down the entire length of the gown in the back.

The designer wanted to show off the actress’s décolletage:

“It suits her because she has a very long neck and very beautiful shoulders – it’s very demure, [she looks] like a real bride.” Herrera told Vogue.

How the couple met

The two met through the first feature film that Esmail directed and wrote.

“I just thought he was one of the more unique, kind, creative, brilliant people I’d ever met. Just somebody that I always wanted to be around,” Rossum told Vogue.

Apparently, Esmail had bought the engagement ring in the early stages of their dating and proposed two years later to Rossum while she was in the bath.

When asked if she was excited about the upcoming nuptials, the actress previously revealed she was more focused on the actual marriage.

"I was more excited by the idea, the concept of marriage and togetherness with the person and unity," she explained.

“'The only thing that’s really important to me is that we get married and there’s some kind of party.'

And party they did! The couple clearly know how to enjoy a good dance number.
