Looking good has never been so easy

1/11

The utilitarian hit about to takeover our work wardrobe this season has all the chic, no-need-for-brainstorming-to-style qualities that a jumpsuit has – but with all the practicality you wouldn’t normally find in a polished one-piece.

That is, the boilersuit, a heavy-duty number that traces its origins to the factory floor.

Consider the modern woman’s do-it-all attitude and hyper-demanding schedule, and it makes sense that the trends we’re starting to adopt appropriately match that lifestyle with garments that facilitate it.

Hence is the appeal of the boilersuit; it’s perfect for moving around in all day, captures a sense of refined ease that simultaneously balances toughness with modish flair.

It’s as if the boilersuit is the lovechild between the trusty long-sleeved collared shirt and a pair of workwear pants. Also, it’s usually characterised by a zipper or buttons that runs down the centre front to the crotch of the trousers, and often sports utilitarian influences from pockets, slightly flared trousers, and belts with hardware.

Ahead, we’ve rounded up the best designer picks of the season for you to invest in right now.
