Beloved of artists, the avant guarde, fashionistas and fashion lovers who like a practical but stylish bag, the Bao Bao from Issey Miyake is a great addition to anyone’s accessories collection.
The Bao Bao bags’ unique design is based on the graphic shapes formed from the mathematical rules of squares made physical as soft, triangles of a hard-wearing, artificial material in a huge range of colours.
For Spring Summer 2012, the range covers everything from basic white and primary colours, to two-tone and ombre versions and even “prints” and “stripes” made of alternating single colours.
Also new for SS12 is the Mini Camera Sling Bag – which has a longer strap – and a “studded” tote bag where the triangles have been pre-studded to add textured to the Bao Bao classic tote bag.
The man-made material, the ability for the bags to be folded up and wide variety of sizes means there’s sure to be a Bao Bao bags from Issey Miyake to suit everyone.
Even better? Fashion company Club 21 will be opening a stand-alone store for this diffusion label from Issey Miyake. The pleats please issey miyake bao bao issey miyake store – yes, that’s really its name – will open in March, 2012.
