From The Straits Times    |

Fashion used to be described in decades – the youthquake that was the ‘60s, the disco fever that swept the ‘70s and the grungy mood of the ‘90s. What is the theme of this decade? Anything goes which is democratic at its best (guys shopping in the women’s clothing and vice versa and brands finally jumping aboard the unisex trend) but confusing at its worst (when your clothes look good in Instagram but pale in real life). Indonesian-born Peggy Hartanto, the newcomer to local multi-label site Society-A doesn’t seem to do both but instead, does clothing that women hanker for – contemporarily priced clothes that make you look and feel good.

We’ll skip out the details about her past and delve right into an interview we did with her about why you should purchase her label because after all, the best pieces aren’t the ones that rack up the Instagram likes – they’re the ones that empower, elevate and make dressing up for your day to day life that much more efficient.

Peggy Hartanto describes her label as high-end ready to wear.
With prices ranging from S$200-$700 and with two collections a year, each Peggy Hartanto piece is standardised with strict quality control to ensure you get the best made piece at the best price. And that takes four different craftsman ranging from the designer herself, pattern maker, sewer and finishing-inspector.

The Camouflage dress doesn’t just come with a striking contrasted colour panel, it also has pockets deep enough for your mobile phone. Priced at $659.

She is best known for her signature cut outs

These aren’t the cut outs on the bandage dresses you wore during the Zirca days, these are thoughtfully placed ones that are classy because after all, it’s sexier to leave people guessing about what’s underneath.

Constructed in a suede-like material sans the heaviness of the material, the Mallow dress has draped darts to hide your post-brunch belly. $499.

Peggy Hartanto owes her skills to Australia’s first designer to show in Paris

An internship at Collette Dinnigan empowered Peggy Hartanto with the necessary skill sets to launch her brand which included production, quality checking and dispatch department. She now heads her eponymous brand as Creative Director whereas her twin sister Petty does PR, marketing and branding and her older sister Lydia, does operations, sales and strategy.

Despite having a classic body hugging silhouette, the Predator has a modern cut out for your cleavage area to reveal a sliver of skin. Priced at $659.

Her clothing is produced according to the strictest of international fashion standards

Produced in Surabaya, Indonesia and by the local women, each Peggy Hartanto piece adheres to the Contemporary International Fashion Standard which have guidelines on precision tailoring skills, quality checking standards and exportation to countries.
