2015 has been a good year for weddings - there were super-creative real weddings (we loved Peggy's Andy Warhol-inspired solemnisation and lunch reception in the December 2015 issue) in Her World Brides' Wedding Albums section, the loveliest ideas (don't miss our round-up of the gorgeous real weddings here), and glamorous celebrity weddings we almost couldn't keep up with!

1. Rustic goes glam

1/12

Gone are the days where rustic means boring, overly done farm-style celebrations. In 2016, you'll find a wider variety to choose from - more modern colour combinations and patterns - whimsical (see Miss Tam Chiak's carnival-themed celebration here for ideas!), and so very chic (think gold polka dots, the most romantic peach and pink hues, and so on). Besides the usual burlap, wood, mason jars, and warm lighting to set the ambience, incorporate some white and golds. We are obsessed with this glamorous barn theme so watch this space as we will have a feature on this soon!

2. Into the woods

3/12

Nature lovers, this one's for you. Have a wedding in the great outdoors - the forest. Making greenery the main focus of your theme, you don't have to go overboard on the decorations (because, who needs to do extra work when Mother Nature's already done it for you?). Simply hang up some fairy lights, use ferns or succulents instead of floral arrangements, incorporate vine as decorations, and you're set for your great adventure.

3. The Great Gatsby

5/12

If you're keeping up with the Kardashians, you would know that they had a Great Gatsby-themed birthday party for Kris Jenner's 60th birthday. See the things we were so inspired by for weddings, here. And you know what they all say, vintage never gets old. So go get your flapper dress on.

4. Mermaid-themed beach wedding

7/12

If 2015 was the year of rustic beach weddings, 2016 looks set to take things a step further. For the bride in love with all things inspired by the big blue sea, this is good news. Some ideas to channel your inner mermaid: watercolour invitations, sea glass hues in your favours, colour theme, cake and so on, underwater-themed accessories such as a rhinestone starfish in your hair... It's a whole new world of possibilities to play with.

5. Pastels

9/12

Yes, we know what you're saying. Pastel's been around since forever. But after the introduction of marsala, a deep red hue in 2015, deep, dramatic hues have been present in weddings in 2015. With the release of Rose Quartz and Serenity - Pantone's colours of 2016, there's no better time to have a pastel-themed celebration than now. Instead of mint green and coral, opt for muted, dusty colours instead, with metallic or deeper accents to go with.
