We all remember the hippie movement of the ‘70s, which was all about having big, voluminous hair paired with bell-sleeve tops, dresses and of course, the flared bottoms. The guiding principle? The bigger, the better. All of 70s’ fashion it-girls have at least worn flared jeans or pants once. (Just imagine the 1970s Charlie’s Angels.)

Fast-forward to almost four decades later and we’re still coveting flared bottoms. We love how the silhouette doesn’t cling to our calves, giving us more room for movement and comfort. Wearing them also gives us the best opportunity for us to whip out our highest heels and thickest platform shoes! But if you’re not big on the heels and platforms, don’t sweat it. Cropped flare jeans and bottoms are also perfect when paired with sneakers or sandals.
