What with the pitter patter of rain on our window panes greeting us on most mornings these days, we think it’s safe to say that the monsoon season has descended upon us yet again – which means it’s time to bring out the ankle boots.
Ankle boots are perfect for rainy days to keep your legs dry and clean from the puddles you’ll face on your way to work. But in Singapore – where the weather is wildly unpredictable – a stormy morning can turn into a sweltering hot afternoon. Wearing ankle boots sounds like a bad idea then, right? Well, let us share with you some tips on how you can still wear ankle boots in Singapore, no matter the weather.
Tips on shopping for ankle boots
Go for well-ventilated ankle boots with open toes or cutouts: This allows more air to pass through your shoes, making them breezy enough for sunny days while still being functional for use when it rains.
Opt for slimmer and lighter soles: No one wants to be dragging heavy boots around and experiencing aching feet a mere 15 minutes from leaving the house. Lighter soles also won’t slow you down – which is the last thing you need on your frantic morning commutes.
Don’t go too high above the ankles, either: The higher the cuff, the more heat it’ll trap. When buying fully covered ankle boots, don’t go for anything three fingers above your ankles – or else you may have to contend with a case of sweaty feet.
