Pomellato Group CEO Sabina Belli believes in taking action and leaving a legacy. "Pomellato and I share a common philosophy in which women empowerment is key. I believe that a company needs to share strong values with its audience. As leaders we need to pursue a higher purpose, to create a common vision that in my case drives the entire Pomellato family to create handmade and sustainable products that bring joy to women in the world," she says.
On being a woman leader
I’ve learnt through my career that there is a different way of leadership and management between men and women. My approach has always been inclusive, because I think that working together allows us to enrich our points of view, and to face challenges in a positive way. Only 6 per cent of CEOs in the world are women. We are still a minority. Gender should not be a problem at work and beyond. I strive to provide equality and equal career opportunities for my employees.
How Pomellato is furthering women’s rights
Our Pomellato For Women platform unites a community of like-minded women from different walks of life, to inspire others and highlight the importance of female leadership, inclusivity and diversity. It is important that we leverage the power of luxury brand visibility to promote the change we want for a better and more inclusive future for everyone. Furthermore, Pomellato concretely helps women who are victims of domestic violence.

The women in her life
My mother is a perfect example for me. She’s a professional woman who tried to strike a balance between career and family. Back in her day, there were some revolutionary changes to female roles. I have three daughters, and one granddaughter. I often tell them to be free-spirited girls who can learn to think and decide on their own. I hope each of them will find their own path and take pride in their choices someday. We’re obliged to leave the legacy of our value and tenacity to our daughters, so they will become successful women.
Her favourite jewellery
My collection of Nudo rings. They are stackable, so I can play with their incredible colour palette – they are the perfect day to night jewel! Nudo (which means naked in Italian) was launched in 2001, and it was the perfect ironic answer to the solitaire ring as it was the first to use coloured gems “naked” in their full splendour – an essential design that became an icon and a must-have.

Why jewellery is sentimental
My first encounter with Pomellato was at the start of the ’80s. I was at a professional high point and wanted to reward myself, so I bought a ring from the Pomellato Griffe collection with a big aquamarine stone. I still wear it today!
Her fashion choices
I like to pick and choose the ones that are peculiar for their style or craftsmanship such as Bottega Veneta, or the unmistakable style of Saint Laurent and the unpredictable details of Alexander McQueen.
What she’s looking forward to in 2021
I am most excited about Pomellato’s new high jewellery collection, La Gioia, which will be unveiled in July.
