The mentors and mentees of the Her World Mentorship Programme 2023

Mentorship can help cultivate confidence and foster growth and support, and in a world where talent is everywhere but opportunity isn’t, mentorship matters, especially for women.

That was the sentiment echoed at the launch of the Her World Mentorship Programme 2023 last Tuesday (21 March), where the mentors and mentees of our inaugural mentorship programme gathered to meet for the first time.

Held at The Great Room, Raffles Arcade, a stylish co-working space within Raffles Hotel that has been handsomely designed to promote inspiration, comfort and productivity, guests fêted the occasion over an assortment of savoury and sweet bites from Luxe Catering

Kicking off the launch, Her World’s editor-in-chief Elizabeth Lee warmly welcomed the attendees and offered a brief outline of the six-month programme. She also highlighted the goal to help more women in Singapore benefit from support for personal and professional development. “Her World is Singapore’s oldest women magazine, and our message is always about supporting women. That’s also why we wanted to launch this mentorship programme, because we aspire to help women to advance their careers.”

In her speech, she also thanked The Great Room as the sponsor venue for the night as well as the Young Women’s Leadership Connection (YWLC) for their support and guidance in building the programme.

Yvonne Chan, regional director of marketing at The Great Room, sharing more about the brand’s initiatives

Yvonne Chan, regional director of marketing at The Great Room, then took the floor to share more about how the co-working spaces under the brand are designed to present a deft balance between productivity and creative collaboration: “We pride ourselves in being not just a workspace. We go beyond being a workspace to carefully curate monthly and weekly programmes for our members, because we believe in creating a group like this: a group of inspiring individuals.”

The mentees each shared what they hope to take away from the mentorship programme

After a brief video introduction of the mentors where they shared how the power of mentorship has helped in their own careers, the floor was turned over to the mentors and mentees who each shared about what they hope to take away from the programme.

The mentors and mentees took the time to introduce each other and get acquainted

The mentors and mentees then proceeded to find their pairings to connect and get to know each other better.

The night concluded in high spirits, and mentees were encouraged to schedule the first meeting with their mentor as soon as possible.

The Her World Mentorship Programme is a six-month mentorship programme where we connect mentees with influential women who are leaders in their respective fields.
