For those of you who don’t know, International Women’s Day is fast approaching. It falls on March 8 which means that yes, our day of celebration will fall on a hump day this year.

Don’t worry, though, because here at herworldPLUS, we’re dedicated to ensuring you receive the right amount of attention and festivity, no matter the day of the week. While there won’t be any elaborate parades or decorative firework displays, we can always take it into our own perfectly manicured hands.

Which is why we’ve come up with this list of ways you can pamper yourself. We are women, after all, and indulging in ourselves just seems like the perfect way to celebrate our special day.

1. Go for a spa

“It might only be March but we’re sure the stress is piling up. What better way to de-stress than to indulge in a head-to-toe spa experience? Aramsa The Garden Spa has a special spa series called Dream of Me to celebrate International Women’s Day. The 150-minute package includes a Rose Brilliance Facial, a Rose Petal Scrub, and a Rose Radiance Massage.

If your face is dry or sensitive, you’ll love the hydrating and soothing facial that promises to calm inflammation and redness. The full body scrub on the other hand has some much needed grit to it that will leave you smelling incredible and feeling amazingly soft, moisturised and polished. The lush garden environment of a spa in a park adds to the entire de-stressing experience and is well worth taking a few hours off to enjoy.

This Escape Series spa experience at Aramsa The Garden Spa is available from 1 March to 30 June 2016 and priced at $288+ for one, though if you bring a much-deserving friend you can both experience it for $488+.” – Alyssa Dhaliwal, beauty writer

2. Wine and dine – by yourself

Why save your best dress and stunning evening look for someone else? Make a dinner appointment for one at celebrity chef Cat Cora’s Ocean Restaurant at Resorts World Sentosa.

There’s no shame in spending time alone, but if that makes you feel slightly nervous, then here’s a tip: Apply that smokey makeup look you’ve always felt sexy in, don your favourite frock, and leave the house with your hair on #fleek. The stares you get will only be because of how amazing you look! If that still bothers you, why not call along some girlfriends?

If dining in an aquarium setting isn’t for you, then here are celebrity chef and top restaurants in Singapore that you can consider.

3. Satisfy that retail craving

We don’t know about you, but we have many coveted items that we still don’t own simply because we thoughtthem too indulgent (and our wallets felt a little too light). Sure, International Women’s Day doesn’t justify breaking the bank, so you might want to stay away from that Birkin bag, but we’re sure there’s an anti-aging moisturiser you’ve been eyeing (say, Chanel’s Sublimage La Creme), or a perfume with the right touch of femininity. Go for it. Besides – forgive us for playing into stereotypes, but – what better way is there to celebrate women than to shop up a storm?

4. An afternoon tea in The Courtyard

Envision this: Lavender macaroons; lychee, rose and raspberry choux; bergamot tea friandise; a lush courtyard filled with colourful flowers. Sound like a fairytale? Well, it could be a fairytale come true. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Afternoon Tea at The Courtyard will be made all the more fancier with a specially commissioned floral masterpiece by Croatian artist Ana Tzarev. This collaborative effort between The Fullerton Group and the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation will last for a month, so even if you’re unable to make it for Afternoon Tea on March 8, your chance at this enchanting experience won’t be going anywhere.

The Afternoon Tea at The Courtyard will be held from 1 to 31 March, and is priced at $48 per adult and $27 per child. A glass of wine or champagne will also be available for an additional $10 and $20 respectively.

5. Staycation

The great thing about staycations is the convenience. They provide a getaway without truly, well, getting away, which is perfect since International Women’s Day falls on a weekday this year. So while you can’t whisk off on a plane for a great adventure, you could use a cab instead.

What can you look forward to? Crisp cotton bedsheets prepared just for you, room service at your whim, and fluffy bathrobes – and a night all to yourself. Turn off your phone while you’re soaking in the bath or applying that eye mask so that you’re completely uninterrupted during your time of self-indulgence. And it’ll be so easy to just take the MRT back to work the next day feeling refreshed.

If you’re looking for a tried-and-tested hotel to guarantee a great staycation, we’ve got just the thing.

6. Purchase some amazing sleepwear

Think of this as more of an investment, and be sure to choose quality over quantity. We all love sleep, but sometimes our body doesn’t get enough of it. And when we mean sleep, we mean a good night’s rest. One way we can change that up is by gearing up for it – quite literally too. Splurge on a great pair of silky pyjamas, or opt for a 100 percent cotton piece. A quality pair of pyjamas are the first step to having great sleep, which is vital for clear skin, weight loss and of course, our health.
